US Election 2024

You can describe her however you like within reason, but doing so while ignoring the big orange one and the abilities (lack of) he has, along with his character is mental.

Thats before you get to policy. But this really isnt about policy is it?

Itā€™s not an issue of comparisons to Trump. It is that it is a characterization of her that is thought as reasonable nowhere other than the ā€œblack people in jobs mean DEI means low IQā€ sections of the internet were they just recycle their conventional wisdom to each other without care or consideration of what is happening in the real world.

I mean, people forget now what a quick rise Harris had from getting into the Senate in 2017 to becoming a popular candidate for the presidential nomination just a couple of years later. What was it that got her such quick and widespread public recognition? It was her senate interrogations of Trump appointees, and later in her role on the judiciary committee. Even ignoring her performances, do you know how much of a star you need to be to get such a committee placement as a freshman senator?

For all the ā€œI just felt like Trumpā€™s economy was better for meā€ people, it turns out Musk acknowledges there will be serious pain as a result of his economic policy

But Iā€™m sure the goal post movement has already been coordinated to explain why people are willing to put up with a period inflation and bad unemployment to get us to the promised at some later time.

WTF happened to Jrā€™s face? Is going to Trumpā€™s bronzer part of the deal of joining his campaign

Anyway, a few thoughts on thisā€¦the campaign that wants to gut DoE still wants this level of federal involvement in the schools? How? Also, how do you get rid of processed food on the budget schools have? Every well meaning attempt to do this ever has failed because you literally cannot buy vegetables for the cost per student school canteens are working with. Finally, are we going to get an apology for Michelle Obama now they are finally admitting that trying to improve the nutritional quality of school food is a worthwhile cause? I am old enough to remember when that was communism.

Of course, the potential risk from a Trump presidency is far greater than what is presented in that tweet - his tax cuts are expected to increase the debt by around I think 3 times as much as Harrisā€™ spending proposals, which aligned to his regular threats to the FEDs independence could see higher inflation from cutting interest rates too far too soon or at least the expectancy of higher inflation itself possibly leading to higher inflation.

Having just looked at 538, looks like Tester is favoured to lose his seat, as is Peltola as Alaskaā€™s only Democrat in state office. Itā€™s a shame especially for the latter, I would have thought that Alaskans would have appreciated her service by now but I guess not.

We have actually seen a milder version of this thought experiment in the UK. It didnā€™t have the staying power of a head of lettuce.

Stop cutting away. Let this weirdo who has a special relationship with MIT talk.

Please move to the Chicago Bears thread. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Aye, they are presenting the best case scenario that the pain is manageable and the thing that rises is bigger and better (for whom?). But it doesnt grapple with how big that pain will be and how capable we would be from rising from the effects of it

Most of all though it is in direct contradiction with the primary economy based argument for Trump in this election (any pain is bad and president needs to be punished for it regardless of how much they are at fault for it and how much worse it could have been under a different direction).
