Victor Muñoz Villanueva (Winger) Osasuna

Last summer could turn out to be our best window ever. Isak and Wirtz have potential to be two of the best in the world for 5+ years. Kerkez also potential to be starting LB for a long time. Less convinced on Frimpong

It’s pretty standard for kids who leave Real to do so with a buy back AND sell on clause. As you point out the buy back is very rarely used with a view to use the player, but more to immediately sell them on. It’s more complicated as you cannot do it to a club in the same league in the same window so this is the sort of situation with international interest in the player that they sometimes trigger that buy back so its interesting that they didn’t this time.

“Interesting” is of course relative

One thing that comes out for me from this transfer is that we seem to be diversifying the profile of our wide players…

You saying that’s not the LW sorted for the next 25 years? Scandalous, everyone out.

I see everywhere the name Munoz being typed out, even in serious news outlets.

No, the full name is Victor Muñoz Villanueva. The thread title has been changed now.

Methinks he is a Chiesa replacement

We don’t need to replace Chiesa. He’s barely available to play as it is.

I don’t think about as simply as like for like. Chiesa can do something anywhere in the front line. This guy can do that too. But the factor that is more important is lacking depth on the wings (given raola wants fast wingers) so Munoz makes sense without being a solid block on Rio, who can play both sides. I dont think the club need to bring in a CF as priority. Its wings (half way there) and then defence and midfield.

We absolutely need depth that will be trusted and will play.

The competition are all the Six Fingered Man!

Yeah but he´s Spanish so you only use the paternal name.

Next you’ll be claiming we don’t refer to our CL-winning manager as Rafael Benítez Maudes…

“Victor M.V.” is written on his shirt. So just the abbreviation, not the full surname.

To be fair, Silva is actually David Silva´s maternal name.

I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do. He seems fast and direct, and likes to take people on. Looking at his frame he seems quite muscular so hopefully he will have the strength to not get blown off course in the Prem.

The price point is nice to see. For the last week or two it has felt like every player of interest is going to cost 80-120M and it was all getting a bit ridiculous. Obviously as a huge club we will be able to dabble in that range somewhat, but we have to find some value as well, and this very much looks like that sort of a move.

It’s hard to say how it will pan out for the other winger. I’m hoping it will be Diomande, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion if we lose our tussle with PSG we might end up with Barcola. He’s hardly a booby prize and is himself a very good player indeed. It’s just that I’ve been on the Diomande bus for a long time, and seeing the piece he wrote about his sister made me want to sign him all the more, so he can feel the love of Anfield and achieve all his dreams here.

Here´s an example of what I meant about his strength.

At 1:17 he blitzed the defender for speed but the defender leans into him (a bit of arm) and slows him right down. He still gets the shot off but if he can build a bit more strength, he´d be away there.
