Let’s hope he’s not subbed off then…
Feel for Virg, must be hard being the captain in a season we have just had?
Chin up and go again next season, hopefully with a few more rest days.
I think Virg still has plenty to give. He just played every minute, at his age, which is not treating him right. The team was also unbalanced as opposing sides seemed to cut through us at will.
Better balance, and some help for Virg, will hopefully see much better times next season. He should be in a competitive team, passing on his nous to the likes of Leoni and Jacquet. I hope that’s how it pans out for him next season.
Fewer minutes?
I don’t think our squad has had as many rest days before this season
.
Cheeky bugger
There’s a picture of VvD sitting alone on the pitch after the final match of the season. People were speculating what was on his mind, was he like the final day of Origi. Of course we don’t know what VvD was thinking. But this video gives the proper context: It shows that VvD was sitting there, watching Salah, his best buddy and one of the last member of the spine that Kloppo built, saying goodbye to the supporters at the Kop end, and the kids kicking footballs.

Aww…he’s gonna miss Salah and Robbo. And Robbo played next to him in defence.
And they’ve both been through really bad injuries and must have relied on each others’ emotional support to get through those trying times. Those bonds are unbreakable.
Watch it. Dejan might have something to say about that!
2 of his best buddies…
I do feel sorry for Virgil at times when I see some of the limited players and their brainfarts around him these days.
I mean they’re both married fathers and Becks has already been busted.
4941 mins, eight goals, three assists.

What about goals conceded?

…not a fluffy leopard jacket in sight…
I believe, Virgil van Dijk will announce his retirement from international football after the World Cup.
