I agree. But there are definitely elements within Iran that will be supportive of USA just because they wanted khamanei gone. The fact that there are two armed forces with two different command structures means that they won’t be as cohesive as they would like. There’s an opportunity for US/Israel to work on that.

The US keeps calling for the Iranian ‘people’ to rise up. So who is the leader of these ‘people’?
If you have a country of 80 million people ‘people’ rising against a regime is nonsense unless they have extremely solid foundations. If they don’t have these foundations it falls apart very quickly into lots of factions.
I suppose under those circumstances the Kurds could just walk in and take over, not that we are there yet, however who in Iran (and these Shahistes in the west) will like that?
I’ve heard some of these Shahistes on the TV (I should really say seen) they are presented here as scholars and experts. They seem to be in a parallel universe.

I’m afraid any of the Iranian expats expecting a modern Iran to emerge etc after this are for a rude awakening.
50 odd years of being under a hardline right wing fundamentalist regime does change people’s mindset.
The new govt isn’t going to magically come in and promise women rights etc etc
