War in Iran : Trump's latest misadventure

Plan 9 From Outer Space is beyond satire. It is why I actually think it is (the movie) worth watching even though it is so absurdly terrible

I read an article couple of years ago that showed a trend of US doing something stupid, and Iran electing a hardline President.

But the war goals are very clear. Or in constant flux as some would say

Worth noting that various factions in the US admin, such as they are, have different opinions on what the goals should be too. Rubio is constantly trying to limit them and have been trying to do that ever since this debacle began. Unfortunately, Spray-Tan Caligula is not stable.

Oddly, the 82nd is not actually ready to go. They are very actively preparing, but only started doing so over the weekend. Very strange they were not put into that status as a reserve a week ago, really show just how seat of the pants this all is.

Plan 9 indicates that the first 8 failed. Just saying !

(Technically, in the movie, plan 9 was just one of many they could have used, but I don’t know how interested people are in plot of famous Turkey Film

One in a long, long list.
I am repeating myself, but these are not Swans (unforseen consequences and butterfly effect that is possible, but hard to predict). It’s basic stuff. No true expertise needed to cast the runes. This isn’t prophecy. It’s basic in risk assessment.

They say (sources I read) that Lindsay Graham convinced Trump (this I do not know for sure, because it is based on White House leaks and they are all protecting their little fiefdoms there) of the wisdom of launching the attack and that he was first skeptical but was persuaded and now are all in (remember, Trump cannot bear to lose, he is like a traditional Asian when it comes to “face”, except he doesn’t have the dignity to consider harakiri or even admit mistake).

And if ShitferBrains really thinks that by calling the tanker captains chicken he is somehow going to cajole the CEO’s of shipping companies to order their seamen to take their ships and their precious cargo through that tiny strait (accompanied or not) then he is desperately deluded at this point.

Some ships have sailed through now, but they all turn transponders off so will not be detected on that image.

But yes, like I said above 90% of shipping is down, or was, 2 days ago. Migth be more now, might be slightly less. I cannot know. Insurance is obviously an issue.

But 90% means that the Strait is de facto closed. Since that oil is almost all of it, going to Asia, this is why the markets are crashing in Japan and South Korea.

Also alienating nations with similar interests is also a bit stupid.

But then this is a country that launched an attack thinking Venezuelan 2.0

You know, this guy is one of the few thar Trump listens to. This, this entire war, it is his wet dream since the 90s.

Comment section is full out insanely outraged Arabs from the kingdom of sand and oil. Highly entertaining read.
Lindsay’s diplomatic outreach is the best !

Their Theory of Victory is quite clear. The US theory of victory, opaque.

"To claim that the Israeli-American operation seeks to liberate Iranians from the mullahs’ dictatorship is questionable in the eyes of experts. Trump has repeated that he wants to see the regime collapse, but he has no clear strategy and does not plan to send ground troops. “One thing the Iranian diaspora failed to understand is that this was never going to be a war to end authoritarianism in Iran. This war advances authoritarianism in Israel and the US. While bombs fall, Netanyahu is immune and Trump is unchecked. They only care about themselves.”

This might the most encouraging thing the Iranian leadership has seen to date. Trump is clearly in full panic about the economic effects

Seems the orange ostrich’s belief in fairies has accelerated.
Telling the world his,and Netanyahu’s war is a price the world has to pay is the stuff of marshmallows between the ears.
The reality is that few paying the price at the bowser and elsewhere are going to forget in a hurry who caused it,deliberately starting a war because of ego trips.
Sure Trumps mentality,if ir exists at all,is that I am God and I am always right!

As I said be wary of tying yourself too close to this as a leader in the world or potential leaders (looks at Badenoch and Farage).

All he’s done in the last year is cause pain and threats. It’s the old saying that goes would you jump into a fire if he told you to and you have three options.

The “fuck off, no” option taken by Spain

The “you go ahead and I’ll watch option” taken by a number of countries.

The “I’m going first option, yes Donald” taken by some others

The Spanish option is what all fair minded leaders should take. The actions of US and Israel are excused by the other two options.
But any such stance is met by charges of being pro horrible Iranian regime or pro Hamas etc.
Because Trumpian politics has no room for nuance or multiple choices.

From an Irish perspective, seeing our Taoiseach cow towing with a bowl of shamrock to the orange is sickening
