He’ll probably declare victory for the umpteenth time and withdraw the troops, or he’s going all in by announcing a ground invasion.

TruthSocial or whatever his captive social media outlet is.

The problem with the rate increases is that while the governments say that this will be temporary. The govts won’t reduce the prices once they are raised after the conflict does die down.

And it’s high time countries look at nuclear power as a fuel source.

Thorium is abundant for instance in India. Indian govt keeps harping about thorium resources but there’s been jackshit done in building nuclear power plants using thorium. The technology shows it’s feasible. Commit to a plan and have atleast 30-40% of power generation done by nuclear. 10-20% by other renewable sources. Decrease the dependencies on petrol. This needs to be done by 2035

It’s strange to talk of withdrawing troops when none have been committed. A very strange war!

Seems very likely now that Trump is about to decide the US has won, and leave. The US doesn’t seem to grasp the magnitude of the strategic failure that would represent. Other countries are not going to step in and continue fighting Trump’s war, they are going to realign to reflect the new strategic balance. The US bases in the Gulf are basically liabilities now, they provide minimal defensive reassurance and encumber the diplomatic freedom of the Gulf states to reach an accord with Iran.

The outcome of this war will be a strategic victory Iran could not have imagined three months ago, at the cost of a lot of dead Iranians, a significantly damaged economy, and a setback of a couple of years on their efforts to develop a nuclear weapon.

And it is now more likely that they push ahead and make one. And they continue with the same regime as well.

And of course OPEC wins again, just like they did in 2020.

Yeah, that’s it in a nutshell. It will be a triumph for arguably the worst regime on earth. Well done Trump, showing again what a genius he is. The world is once again a less safe place than before after this latest action, totally useless and uncalled for.

The worst is that Trump will TACO out of this, but it won’t stop Iran to do whatever they can to continue to harm them and their proxies, the Gulf states.

It’s the musings of a lunatic.
Quitting without a negotiated resolution, quit NATO surely also means quitting Israel.
Personally I feel the irony of this laughable.
How will the USA support Israel without US military bases in Europe or middle east?
What a waste of resources effort and time.
Surely it will go down in history as an overwhelming victory for Iran, no?

Really does seem like Trump wants other countries to commit troops.

Saudis don’t want US to leave. And that probably means that they will drag in Pakistan into the conflict.

Watch for Pakistan to blink. They are facing an existential crisis on all fronts be it economic, terrorism etc etc and so dearly need the infusion of the cash.

The Pakistanis right now have played it right.

But when push comes to shove, I do think the self serving military junta will sell themselves out like the mercenary army that they are.

I for one hope that they don’t take this route out and instead learn from history. But I don’t hold too much hopes on their military junta and their short sighted views.

I think for the UAE, this may well precipitate a major re-alignment. Europe is far more important to a place like Dubai is than the United States, along every dimension except the military/strategic. Trump appears to be on the cusp of abdicating that, at which point the UAE really has to look carefully at preserving its relations with China and Europe, while re-basing its relations with Iran.

A penny for Israels thought?

A sense of abandonment?

No big brother to protect them?

Of course not. Have a look at Saudi Aramco’s financial performance this last month.

Surely too busy thinking about who they are going to kill next and what part of what country they will scorch.
