Welcome to Liverpool, Andoni Iraola!

That would definitely be his darts nickname!

Yeah, well considering how petty we can be at times on here about everything, I’m suprised this was allowed to happen :rofl:

Eddie has unknowingly shown his arse there. I get general football fans not knowing much about him having largely ignored lowly Bournemouth. But if you consider yourself to be someone whose opinion on who should come next being something that is important enough that people need to read it and you didn’t consider Iraola then you’ve demonstrated you don’t know what you’re talking about. He is not some one season wonder. He arrived in the prem with a lot of interest given that way he was hired and has been doing his thing there for 3 seasons now improving them year on year to massive overachiement and playing a brand of football that is commonly identified by neutrals as being one of the few prem teams left that is worth watching.

I am not by any means suggesting he is a slam dunk as no one is. But this is a guy who has done the work over a several year period to rightly be considered for big jobs

Point is that it’s not a cycle. They don’t then play 3 games in the next 7 days

And I hate the “we don’t know of he can do it at a big club” argument. We will never know if he doesn’t get the chance to try. He’s achieved more than could expected for several years now at Bournemouth and has fully earned his chance.

Would winning the Conference League have really made such a difference to the narrative?

Hughes out!. It’s shocking that he has been allowed to get into the final two years of his contract - make him sign his contract or sell and move on!

The club is a shambles…

Come the third week of August: “He is now going on 2 months without a league win for Liverpool. When will this barren run end?”

“The Anfield crowd won’t accept going months without a win at home”

It is a pity Sky Sports didn’t take that attitude with Carragher. If he was to be judged on past performance in the punditry world, Sky would have left him serving the Bovril at the Marine games and saved every one of us the rising feeling of nausea every time he blurts out his aggressive tone to the painfully slow cog turning speed of his light bulb moments, and general thought patterns.

Seriously can we interview people like yourself? You have not posted for 5 years and did you suddenly wake up today and decided that it’s time you share 2 sentences with us? I am serious, like what happened in the last 5 years? :face_holding_back_tears::face_holding_back_tears:

Yeah but not like we’re going to then play the Sunday directly after the Saturday and then do Wednesday and Saturday again. What we would do is Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday or Sunday. That’s 5 games in 14 days. Three games a week is an exaggeration to show a hectic schedule. Not that it isn’t and the Christmas schedule is no joke but then it’s not like he isn’t used to that time of the year by now.

Can he do it at a big club? I’m not sure he’s had 4-5 games a week before :face_with_peeking_eye:

On a more serious note, very recently we were trying to come to terms with Slot going into his third season. Even the most supportive were at best apprehensive, while most were filled with a combination of apathy/dread, expecting a departure by Christmas, or maybe the Autumn international break, after more bad play.

Slot leaves with our thanks for number 20. That can never be taken away. But the right decision has been made, and now we can look forward with renewed hope.

Some are concerned about injuries. Will Iraola’s all-action style lead to injuries. Hmmm. Compare/contrast to Slot’s measured slow-ball of the past season, and how many injuries we have had to manage. Injuries will always be a fact of life. You try to manage the fitness and recovery to reduce the impact, but you are still going to get them.

I for one am looking forward to seeing a team playing with real purpose and drive. Iraola is a deep thinker, a hands on coach with exacting standards. I expect to see a coordinated press return and some exciting football to be offered up.

I want to be fair and give him a bit of time to implement it, as most of his better players won’t be coming back until late on after the World Cup.

I’m excited to see what signings we make, and how they will fit in.
I’m excited to see how we are going to play under the new man.

There’s now a different complexion on everything. Good. It was needed.

Up the reds.

I thought John Moores was a blue nose!

The headline is actually much more negative than the assessment in this video.

He was. Think he meant his nephew, the late David Moores. Family owned both clubs

Did I read somewhere that Donnie Iraola won’t be in charge for our first preseason match?
