Welcome to Liverpool, Andoni Iraola!

What really convinced me was when watched the whole of Shitty Bournemouth
Game he out thought gladiola and outplayed his team.

Truffert, Sensei and Scott were their most used players last year, each playing 39 games in all comps. We had 11 outfield players play more than that. It is absolutely a consideration and something he will have to navigate, but I suspect a manager with multiple years in the prem would adapt to it easier than a CL experienced manager coming to the prem for the first time.

I just hope Iraola isn’t a knee jerk appointment…and we have the same scenario in 2 years…

I don’t think it was. He had experience of competing in Europe and the expectations and tactical challenge of managing the strongest club in the league (even if it was the Netherlands).

Iraola seems more of a Liverpool style manager, and has lots of experience of the Premier League, which Slot didn’t have prior to his appointment.

It’s not about it being a knee jerk appointment - but there can’t be a knee jerk reaction if we have a bad season. It’s important to get behind Iraola and create some stability.

What we cannot know is whether the team will fully and absolutely commit to this new challenge; this style of play is bound to be extremely grueling—and, initially, completely unfamiliar—after all that dilly-dallying in what felt somehow like slow motion.

The part about utilising the CBs to apply pressure on defensive teams is interesting, as it sounds like Jacquet in particular is very strong on the ball and likes to bring it forward.

No doubt it’s gonna get mangled enough times, but here’s one example

I just wish for a few games of football rather than the constipated, flowless stuff we have been witnessing over the last year or so.

But he’s never had a squad like ours. Or the resources like ours.

You only have to look at the video where they talk about how his tactical approach from two years ago changed last season because he lost so many of his back five to realise he’s not going to employ some kind of ā€œset and forgetā€ tactical blueprint that’s identical to what Bournemouth have done.

Nor is he going to do the physical conditioning in the same way. If you don’t have mid-week games you need to do more sessions to maintain that level of fitness but here he will no doubt adapt. Klopp showed it’s entirely possible to have an extremely fit and physically aggressive team despite playing three times a week. So has Someone. So have many other managers.

I’m baffled at people now worrying about the level of conditioning work players will be expected to do having moaned about how badly we’ve looked physically all season.

Yes it’s strange how Slot was portrayed and all the confidence when he arrived. I didn’t know anything about him however the first time I heard him mention small squad I thought we had been suckered. He never had the experience for the job.
So I hope Iraola does better at least he comes from a club I know just a little more than nothing about.
I can not get my head around any negativity considering how Slot was viewed.

I miss Matip’s forward runs. Would love to see that sort of thing again.

For me, I would see the first 5 league fixtures for the 26/27 Season. If the team is going towards a more well-drilled team in possession and OOP, a fitter team and a direct attacking team regardless of results, I will be ā€œIraola inā€ all fucking day to the point it will make @Mascot look really tame in his defence of Slot staying at LFC.

My life is complicated, has been for a few years now, but I don’t think that is anyone’s business to be honest. If I broke any rules, I apologise.

Oops i think you took it the wrong way, just curious about long time missing members been up to. And you are right, its really none of my business.

Shit, sorry for being that guy :face_with_peeking_eye: I’m out of practice when it comes to interpreting text tone
I’m always checking in to keep up with the news, but that’s all for a long time.
I have a little boy with special needs who thankfully is becoming more independent, other stuff is just less important sometimes.
Anyhoo, it’s a strange feeling not quite knowing what the future holds after winning the league last season and thinking we were going to dominate for a few years at least!
