“Little”?!
I think it’s more about his age than his size, tbf.
But his nickname in Italy is Leoncino, meaning little lion.
Edit
Giovanni’s surname translates from Italian to English as “lion,” and the player was sometimes referred to in his home country as “Leoncino”—the little lion—after his first football coach gave him this nickname.
Ciao, Giovanni, benvenuto nel club più bello del mondo.
Welcome home Giovanni!

First Interview
“Arne slot amazed by how tall Giovanni is”…
Wait 'til he looks down on Guehi
Is he there…
Yes !
Nah they got some fans in to attend the media stuff he was doing yesterday
Apparently, he trained waterpolo as a kid (and one of his brothers is playing it professionally). That should hold him in good stead.
It’s good to see a new body coming in for CB, it was direly needed. He’s tall and strong for such a young age, and looks quite quick as well. Hopefully he has the mentality to go with it, and will be a success for us, fingers crossed!
Welcome, Lion-boy! May you follow your nature, and become ferocious, tenacious and generous in your efforts, like a proper adult lion. Grrrr…
Well if Everton’s new ground floods.
Hell of a first game for him to attend. That atmosphere must have had an impact on him

Btw…Ali still speaks Italian I think, and Mo as well.
Wait a minute why was he looking at his clone
Arne did a classic Italian hand gesture
We should play this lad against Sandcastle next week to mark 6’7" Dan Burn at corners… For if we do, there is no way he would score another header against us from one. That, and besides him never getting a sniff at another high ball pumped into our box, because this giant of a young lion we have just acquired, will clear everything :0)
