He chose number 33 because he wore that number during his very first professional debut.

With our record it’s an admittedly low bar, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’ll be our best loanee since a certain French former Arsenal striker.

I just saw his first interview—he seems like a really likable guy. I actually didn’t expect them to do that complete annoncement stuff etc, since it’s only a loan deal.

Anyway , welcome Ronald

At least we got El Haj Diouf, still a travesty we didn’t sign Anelka.
Hope Ronald does the business for us and ends up with a premier league trophy or 2 if we end up signing him for real next summer.

"Araujo took a pay cut just to make this happen, that’s real desire to join Liverpool !

“I think it was the ideal move for me at this stage in my career. I think it was a move that was necessary for me to take.

“As soon as I heard that interest from Liverpool, everything went into action really, really quickly.

“I’m super-happy to be here and excited to get started. I’m glad about the interest and it was the right move at the right time.”

I like this. I was wondering if we’d see Quansah return but it looks like they want another year to see how he develops. Had a disappointing WC with that red card.

Who was the last CB we took on loan? Kabak? and Caulker before him?

Seems it’ll be a head to head for who has the best season out of the two, and earns a career at Liverpool

He was the Captain for Barca. Regardless of his past errors on the pitch, it’s always good to add another leader to this dressing room.

Welcome, Ronnie. I hope the supporters here rally around you and give you the support needed to play at your best. Because when you’re at your best, you’re world class.

I am quite excited about this. I mentioned it I think on Saturday that it was only 2-3 years ago I was making shouts that we should spend decent money to sign him. There is a monster player in there, but (yes, downer incoming) I cannot shake the Balotelli vibe with this. Obviously I dont mean that to say anything about Araujo as a person, but I say this as someone who quite quickly talked himself into believing the Balotelli move was a smart one with huge upside and close to no downside. Then Sturridge’s injury problem kicked in and we quite quickly realized we needed someone reliable not a risk with a big pay off “it it works.” And it didnt work. Not even close, and our season was fucked as a result.

Anyway, I’ve long been a fan of this guy and look forward to watching attackers bounce off him.

His eyes just lit up when asked and talked about Darwin. Must have meant a lot from his childhood friend/teammate telling him that he is joining a great club with the supporters cheering him on.
