We did an English last night.
Very nice it was.
Spit Roast or in the traditional way?
It was fried cod, roasted potatoes and green runner beans with tartare sauce. Roast leg of Lamb is Sundayās treat.
Was laid off of work at end of April, tariffs having their effect on our industry. So back into the job market I go.
Sorry to hear that mate. Hope the job search doesnāt take too long
Good luck Semmy. Hope you find something good very soon.
Yet another stirring rendition of YNWAā¦on BBC1ā¦but no flags no bannersā¦
On a train from Berlin to Amsterdam. Six hour journey now seven due to delays. We only found out once the train was underway that thereās no food or drink available at all. No restaurant car, no trolley, nothing.
I guess we should have read the small print.
Itās a bit crap though, and typical of the kind of deterioration of service in Germany that is becoming ever more noticeable.
Wir fahren, fahren, fahren auf der Deutsche Bahnā¦
Is that the ICE? The local trains seem to be OK. Itās when you are supposed to be going at 300kph that the whole thing grinds to a halt.
Itās something a step down from the ICE.
Youād think there would be some kind of requirement to provide a drink at least. Luckily Iāve got a bottle of water, but no food at all for seven hours seems a bit harsh.
It wouldnāt happen in India!
I think I had a 8 hour journey from Kƶln to Berlin when it was supposed to be 4 hour 22 minutes.
They decided to beat that however when a 3 hour 13 minute trip from PlzeŠto München became 7 hours.
ICE both times.
What with the US, ICE is a very dirty word these days. āGet ICEdā will be the diss of playgrounds in a year or two
According to this thread itās already a dirty word in Deutschland it seems.
Gotta say I was a bit surprised at the unreliability of German ICE trains on my recent visits. Where was the legendary German efficiencyā¦.
Off to Japan later this year. Apparently perfection in train timetable management.
Shame you didnāt take a few cold Pilsners and food @Bekloppt thatās a tough trip. But enjoy Amsterdam.
The only times Iāve ever encountered delays with trains in continental Europe have been with DB. And of those, two were cross-border trips where somehow the trains were on time until we entered Germany. Go figureā¦
They would have been warm by then!
Weāre kind of used to delays by now, but not providing any refreshment is pretty crap.
It would pay for itself, so I really donāt understand why they canāt even have a trolley.
Anyway, nearly there. Gagging for a coffee.
Itās almost as if not investing for decacdes into the rail network and instead spending on motorways has consequences.
Amateur.
I had train journeys take 36 hours when they were supposed to be done in 20.
