I don’t know who most of the players are high up the leaderboard. I like Hovland though.
Aside from a 30 minute dog walk, I’ve had my arse on the chair in front of the TV for the last 9 1/2 hours
Fair play, at least you took the dog out!
I’m a fan of the odd cheeky Friday. Take a Friday off work, but no one else knows . It’s awesome.
I looked at all the local airports privileging Marseille and didn’t find anything else interesting unfortunately.
Flybe going out of business doesn’t help.
My 90 year old Mum is in hospital for tests. Looks like some form of dementia. She started sending a lot of strange text messages and calling family members to talk about stuff from decades ago.
Stopped conversing and started lecturing.
It came on really suddenly. I always thought it was a gradual thing.
Looks like I’ll have to get over to the UK soon.
We are going through a similar process with my mother-in-law. We have suspected that she has had signs of dementia for a while, but she had a fall at home a fortnight ago and once she was in hospital and away from her familiar environment it has become very obvious. For example, she seemed surprised that she was in Germany. She moved to Scotland when she retired but has been back in Germany for over 7 years now.
At the moment, she is in short term respite care but I think we will have to find something more permanent, as her existing apartment is completely unsuitable for her.
Sorry to hear that RW. If she’s mobile it can be a real danger. My Mum is unable to walk, so at least we don’t have to worry about her setting her place on fire or anything like that.
We’ve had to take away her phone because she was really harassing people and causing quite a lot of anguish in the family.
It’s very sad to think I may never have a coherent conversation with her again.
Best of luck to the both of you. Tough business.
Mine’s on the same track. She had tests two years ago and we were told it was mild cognitive impairment. It was a relief at the time but that diagnosis can change very quickly into something far more serious so I’m prepared for the worst.
Best of luck , and I hope you can spend some meaningful time with her.
I’m just going to drop this in here, give it a watch when you have 5 minutes. It explains something important about how dementia affects people in a clear and helpful way. It’s the bookcase analogy from the Alzheimer’s Society.
Thank you, that was really informative.
Same here with my Father. Awkward and strange I would desscribe it at the moment. Sadness and worry too obviously.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. It’s sad to hear that so many people have had, or are having similar situations. It’s a very difficult thing to deal with.
I’m going over to the UK to help my Mum settle back home, but I’m not optimistic that she’ll be able to stay there long.
So sorry to hear about your elders, it is so sad to see our parents deteriorate in this way. I hope they can get all the help they need.
My mum was on Donezepil medication, which really helped and stopped her dementia from getting worse. My mum stayed stable with her dementia which was mild.
My situation was different. I was living with mum and I had carers coming, family and friends coming and going so it was not worrying that mum was on her own.
Sending out
My Mum in Law was on Donezepil as well. She got better as well. Not better, but better than she was.
Thanks, I’ll ask her GP about Donepezil.
On the way to the UK to look after my mum for a bit. Not sure what to expect, but there have been some vague warnings of her strangeness.
Had Covid (“razor throat”) all last week. Finally feeling like myself again this morning.
My eldest and her best friend (my mate’s daughter) are in Hanoi right now volunteering at a children’s charity.
I couldn’t be more proud of them. Two good human beings
