It’s not compulsory.

Actually we will be having roast chicken tomorrow. Home made by elder daughter. So there is that.

Xmas in Aus is so unXmassy.

It took several years for me to get used to not sweating my balls off on Xmas.

Prawns, beer, backyard cricket and a trip to the beach, what could be more Xmassy?

It is relatively mild in a leafy part of Ealing. :joy: I do miss the snow at this time of year.

Christmas was almost always invariably hot and sticky where I grew up; blazing mornings and towering thunderstorms by 15h00. Then spent Christmas every year for a while in the Kruger which was invariably even hotter and even stickier to the point where Satan’s armpit would have been a welcome relief.

The few rainy and dreary Christmases, like this one looks to be actually, were always savoured.

It will be 6 degs cooler when the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation collapses.

Merry Christmas.

Does anyone know anything gastronomic from Japan?

When KFC opened in Doha, Qatar in the 1990s. It was the rage to go there and eat.
Forget the Persian, Lebanese, Chinese, Thai, French, Italian and other cuisines around the world over there.
Their KFC was adapted to the local palette.

"It’s impossible for any cook, any chef, to visit Japan, be exposed to the positively fetishistic appreciation of ingredients, the perfectionist approach to technique, the mind boggling sheer volume of variety of good stuff to eat without being changed forever.

You leave Japan a better cook or, you give up cooking all together.

Japan tends to focus the mind in wonderful, new ways.”

Ok I’ll rephrase
Is there anything that tastes good from Japan?

I know that the disgusting things others have tried to force me to eat here in France probably are not authentic however it doesn’t taste nice. So I asked an honest question due to my perception.

Flobs, never change :joy:
How do the frog’s legs taste like? :slightly_smiling_face:

I think Teriyaki chicken is lovely. Their grillled food.

I still can’t eat jellied eels

Yes, Christmas is that time for me that I think of family both near and far and here and gone.

But I remember all the good times and think of how lucky I am/was.

I am 59 and had the best childhood, literally just reminiscing with a dear old friend on facebook and the memories are just the best.
