When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Scamorim! (Part 3)

So is this what Jim thought the " hair dryer" treatment was all about?

Shame, i liked him.

Big fee, but proven in the PL and very good.

Not too bothered these players have to end up somewhere, still not sure the coach is all that.

I look at what we have bought and I just shrug.

Didn’t know Mbuemo had only one year left on his contract.

There was a team option for a further year, so essentially 2 years remaining.

Fair enough then.

Still expensive though. The shit will really hit the fire if they aren’t able to shift the existing 4 wingers that they have.

Martinez will end up at United. And an upgrade.

He will however be Brunoesq on my hate meter.

Someone with a white stick is an upgrade on their current goalie.

He’s also a bit prone to errors himself. Man Utd would probably do well with finding someone more in the Van Der Sar mould.

Not having a striker who nets you 20 goals in 12 years is probably Man Utd in the last decade in a nut shell.

Of course however his average is about 10 so as concern is raised about us signing Ekitike wouldn’t be totally unfair to not consider the same here.

20 goals in 12 years? That’s less than 2 goals a season - apart from Joe Gomez a lot of defenders could manage that so they must have very low standards for their strikers

How many quality keepers are available? Even 75% Van Der Sar quality…very few I think.

Of that very few, how many would go to Utd?

Martinez is a solid keeper. The issue is that he’s 32 years old now.

While most keepers can continue to keep at a high level for longer than most outfield players , it’s not something set in stone.

And again he’s a ball playing goal keeper , none of the defenders for United are really comfortable with recieving the ball under pressure.

But If United can find the cash to stump for another midfielder, they do have the makings of being a competitive counter attacking team. Maybe they can finish in the 10th to 13th positions. Marginal improvement and shit like that.

The fee quoted for him is relatively small by today’s standards, in the region of 25 million pounds, I think. While he probably doesn’t have more than three to four years at the very top, I think he’s a vast upgrade on Onana. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a Saudi buyer lined up for him, so it’s a deal that will likely work out for all parties involved.

They can’t be this bad any time soon, though. We’re talking about one of the richest sides in the world ending up fifth from bottom. Ending up fifth from top used to be a disastrous season for them, after all. Cunha, Mbeumo and Martinez are all improvements to their playing staff, though one wonders if they’d be better off ditching Amorim’s preferred formation and moving to some form of 4-5-1.

Utd signing Martinez would confirm my suspicion that they haven’t learned a fucking thing.

The formation really doesn’t matter. If they can get a mobile midfielder and a good ball playing defender , they’ll do well.

Everyone needs to have Rashford’s representative in their life, taking care of them.
