@Sweeting thanks for the post above. I watch for what you have to say about the younger players, as you have your finger on the pulse and know what’s what.
Hopefully one of the younger CBs we have on the books breaks through to the first team picture.

Think we aren’t looking for a CB as a priority. We would have shown interest in Pau Torres if we were. Also guess Philips will stay.
I think Colwill at this moment is the best, but i don’t underestimate our Quansah very improved
Don’t think Chelsea sell him now that Fofana’s out for the majority of the season with a fucked ACL.
What has he done to be the best?

It would be a very Chelsea thing to do to allow Colwill to leave and then go and buy someone less good.

Colwill for me. All the tools are there to go on to be elite. Just lacks experience, but on what we’ve seen so far from his work at Brighton, he’s already good enough to be in our cb group, and could easily rotate with, and in time replace, one of the old guard.

Are his heading stats good? Colwill is pretty elite in that regard.
In a word, not really.
He’s very young though and if he’s going to be a Matip replacement in a years time he’d be a project we could possibly work with.
Not sure it’s going to be a problem considering that the likes of VVD , Matip and Konate are pretty strong aerially.

We do go into the season with 4, I assume the fact we haven’t signed one suggests we may stick, that might change with Phillips. But it does confirm that the TAA move to CM is as thought utter rubbish and it is a tactic in a match and not a formation change as I’ve said.
In pre-season one year we played Adam Lallana as a 6 regularly but once the season started he went back to an attacking CM role.
We don’t really want to reveal too much in pre-season games.

His “position” is right back. His “role” in our current tactical set up is different to the traditional perception of what a right back does.
