With me, presumably
Bit disappointed/worried that Nat is still here. Have a feeling that he will be here at least till January.
Yeah, thought that when the news of VDBās loan came out.
Iām just amazed. Heās way better than that idiot Mings. Okay thats by my value not transfermaktās, but consistent and steady performing defenders are much better in my book than those who go from being solid rock to quagmire levels game by game.
Why?
We needed cover, he was willing to provide it.
Been rubbish since he did his knee a second time, we own this one, will have to be released.
By the way, I didnāt realise the thread was hibernating when I replied to Iftikharās 3 month old post, so Iāll contribute something new.
Lot of talk among other Liverpool channels I listen to saying they think it would be impossible to hold on to Kelleher, and heās going to want first team game time so we should sell him with a buyback clause.
I think thats bizzare. Why should we want to sell a hot goal keeping prospect that we have nurtured? True Alisson is still just 30 and could have 7 more years at the top level in him, but he could just as easily start on a downward slope in 3 years time (as weāve seen happen to Neuer since past couple of seasons). Not to mention there will be times when heās out through injury as he has been in the past. I think we should do everything possible to hold onto Kelleher cause weāre such a high risk taking team that world class GK and centre halves are vital to us.
What are you guysā thoughts?
My thoughts are that if you have players players who are such a lock in their position as Alisson is, itās very hard to keep hold of deputies as good as Kelleher.
If he is happy to stay, great - but we have to be realistic that at some point he is going to want to move for his own career, and in that case I would be looking at long term loans, buy back clauses and first refusal clauses - anything to keep him loosely tied to the club.
Anyone else starting to think Naby ladās time has passed?
Iād go now, try and make back around half what we purchased him for and go all in on two new midfielders.
Weāll be lucky to get anything at all for him never mind half what we paid for him.
Heāll probably come back, have a couple of decent games and then get injured again.
Itās drearily predictable.
Starting!?!?!
We are not selling Keita for anything more than a nominal fee if he went now.
If he had a decent injury record we might be able to get a few million for him to beat the rush.
People are likely to take a punt when itās just a signing on fee and wages.
Also, there is absolute no chance of Naby agreeing to any move at this point, when he can wait until summer and trouser a bumper salary as a free agent.
I think the saleable assets* are Kelleher, Tsimikas, Gomez and Jones, and at a push Fabinho. I think for a variety of reasons, the club would be reluctant to sell any.
- by which I mean would command a fee, are back ups, and havenāt just arrived at the club.
Heās our Pogba, then. We paid too much; he was mostly injured and will leave on a free.
But he isnāt a dick
I think that, at this moment, there is a greater possibility of Fabinho being sold rather than Jones, even though weāre lacking in DM department. Homegrown, club-trained, frequent glimpses of talent and versatility but on a horrendous run of injuries - even if he was made redundant, his current value would be less than what he could be worth if he steered clear of injuries.
I think that Fabinho and Gomez could be sold next summer if Klopp wanted it as both of them are most likely to generate significant amounts of money to fund other transfers (and, unlike Klopp, Iām really not sure they can turn their form around). Kelleher might want to seek regular playing time elsewhere, which is a shame but understandable.
If he had a decent injury record heād be starting every week for us.
Naby and ox if they were fit would start almost every game for us.
I donāt think we paid too much, itās just unfortunate his career with us has been blighted by injuries.
