Who do you wish to sell

Somethings tight, not his hands though, they’d be tied.

Even throw in a free bag of chips

We’ve sold enough. We need to buy, buy, and buy.

Otherwise we’ll say bye, bye, and bye to this being a successful season.

The Smacker lad who runs transfers.

I think Adrian, Matip, and Thiago will leave this summer. Some of the loaned players will also leave for good. Beyond that,

Would you sell high performing players on loan; Tyler Morton and Sepp van den Berg?

Would you sell players with high potential; Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay?

Would you sell any senior player; Kelleher, Tsimikas?

If we win the Prem, keep them all. New contracts for Adrian Thiago and Matip.

If we don’t, sell the lot. Starting with Salah

This should be a general rule moving forward from now on too.

All down to the new set up.

I wouldn’t want a massive churn. I think on some it’s the price we could get.

I understand both arguments on Salah. I’d really try and get VVD to stay.

Virgil may not be what he was anymore, but his peak was so high and fall off so slow that the idea we’d improve by replacing him is just folly. If we needed to rebuild then maybe you can support the argument that he a Countinho like asset you can sell to fund the rebuild. But I think even the most pessimistic view of where we are could justify that conclusion.

Thiago sadly. Just because of the injury issues. Not sure on his contract situation though. Can’t be far off walking on a free. Probably discussed extensively in the 300 posts above that I haven’t read…

Other than that no one really. I can see an argument for Salah but that would come from internal performance metrics that we don’t see and offers on the table. And contract of course.

I think generally he has been at a high level this season.

A lot higher than he has been.

Yeah I actually agree.

If the aim is to recycle the value of declining players back into the squad, selling at the right time is really hard.

You can’t wait until their legs have obviously gone and everyone knows they are finished, but you also can’t go too early either. If you want their legs to go on someone else’s pitch, you need to let them go before their legs have actually gone.

What I’m trying to say is that there is going to be a point where players like Alisson, Van Dijk, Robertson and Salah leave, and the fans may be really unhappy about losing what appears to be high level, contributing players.

Casameiro is a good example. When he first moved to Utd, it looked as if they had got a really good one. Turned out Madrid knew what they were doing.

I’d go with Tsimikas , Kelleher , Salah and possibly Robbo

Tsimikas because I don’t see him being what the new manager (Amorim) wants.

Kelleher because he’s too good to be a #2 and not good enough to displace Alisson. His stock as a keeper is at an all time high now and he’ll probably get a good price to play as a first choice keeper in other PL clubs.

We will see a law of diminishing returns with footballers.

I believe that’s already started with Salah. His salary demands outweigh the good he brings to the table. He’ll still get the goals and get the assists but he’s not going to be able to beat the last man for pace etc like how he used to.

Virgil probably has another 2 years of good performance in him before we can think of selling him.

Robbo - fail to see how he will fit in to an Amorim side , unless Amorim reinvents him as a CB. He’s not productive enough in front of goal to be a midfielder. he’ll might be one of the few guys that Amorim might want to let go as someone who’s not needed in his system.

Thiago , Matip - Are as good as gone unless the club decides to give a one year extension to Matip (but as Klopp isn’t here anymore , I don’t think they will).

No. Both Morton and VDB deserve a pre-season with the new coach before the club decide what’s to be done with them.

Carvalho seems to have rejuvenated himself. Maybe Amorim is just what he needs. He’s scoring goals as well too.

On Ramsay , there’s no guarantee that a guy who’s spent so much time out of the game due to injury can reach the same potential that he’s shown before. I don’t believe the club will sell him this season though. They’ll look to loan him out to a team and see how he performs there this season.

Totally. Think Mo should go in June and next summer may be the time to replace VVD and Robbo.

Just thinking about Carvalho, maybe the Portuguese element plays here if it is Amorim.

Personally I wouldn’t let a lot go if I was the club, I’d keep Robbo and see how the new manager sees it.

VVD to me is playing his best football in a while, if we wind down his contract fair enough but I’d hand him a 2 year extension.

Salah is sell or let it wind down, I don’t have an issue with eithier. I don’t think I’d offer a new one.

Way I see it there is very little that needs changing, probably a CB and a replacement for Mo but other than that it can wait.

Yep a CB (,replace Matip and then VVD) and a fwd (Salah then/and Diaz) are both essential and the minimum. I expect we’ll need another GK - either for Adrian or Kelleher - plus another signing or two depending on any other departures and opportunities that we may see. Sticking with the same squad for the following season should almost never occur - we need to turn over 2 or 3 players every year regardless of how settled and successful we are. It’s the only way to stay at the top and something we (perhaps due to Klopp) fucked up big time recently.
