Sky sports reporting Bruno G wants to leave for Arsenal!!
Commence operation hijack! The eagle is leaving the building!
Which eagle, you say? One of them!
Arsenal can have him.
However, I wonder what theyād want for Hall or Miley?
Or Thiaw for that matter.
Were we ever linked to Karim Adeyemi in the past? Right wing, left foot, decent production in Dortmund, not as good as his RB days it seems? But Barcelona is interested and apparently available for 30mil. Just 24 years old, could be a player we can revive?
We were heavily linked 3 or 4 years ago from what i remember.
Iād have both full backs. Let Hall fight it out with Kerkez and Livramento can fight it out with Bradley for the treatment table.
hate and despise them, but credit to the scum for purchasing TWO good midfielders (santos and ederson) for a total of 83 million poundsā¦
Jury is out on Santos to be fair. He only managed about 1200 minutes for that abject Chelsea team and by all accounts he was fine but nothing particularly special. Heās got a lot of potential and played well in France so Iām by no means writing him off but heās got a lot of development to go.
Given the prices being quoted, Adeyemi for 30m seems a steal. I donāt know what the issue is that would lead to such a low fee.
If we are going to buy two more forwards/wingers, in anticipation that Chiesa will leave and maybe Gakpo too, then I would be more than fine if Adeyemi is one of them.
I think that Adeyemi may be on the edge of failing the dickhead test. Apparently he is gaining a reputation of being hard to work with.
When is it a understandable time to get a bit twitchy with not signing a couple much needed players by the way?
Iād have thought some solid sources would have given us a bit more news on alternatives or different positions since the Diomande news.
All gone a bit crickets.
Also, not saying iām there yet by the way but has crept into my thinking recently.
Minteh v Chelsea prefer these types of videos than the highlight reels and what I liked here, as much as him given Cucurella the runaround, was his defensive workrate.
I donāt mind Minteh, as long as we donāt get fleeced on the transfer fee. He does put in the hard yards, as far as defensive support, and could move up a level, with Liverpool. And who doesnāt love a guy who can get under Cucurellaās skin?
Minteh is a gamble on if he has another level to step up to or if this is as good as he will get but then Diomande was going to be a gamble as well. If he is a gamble worth making depends on who else we might sign and what price Brighton will be looking for.
Iād say April time, so well overdue.
Given the other RW options weāre reportedly looking at, Iād definitely get on board with signing Minteh, I hadnāt quite realised just how hard-working he is which is going to be a definite big plus under Iraola.
I still feel like weād be one wide player light though, and spending circa Ā£100m on Minteh (figure plucked purely from the air based on how well Brighton usually turn a profit on their players) would probably rule out spending circa Ā£130m on Barcola as well.
I think I saw an article headline yesterday putting a figure of £80m on Minteh in the current market which I would think would still probably be enough to push us off paying £100m+ for Barcola or Diomande.
Numbers wise his signing would mean we have four players for the flanks (without counting players like Szob could switch) which I think would be fine but I guess given the heavy running they do under Andoni, then it does raise the question do we need a fifth so that there is always going to be a set of fresh legs available?
Then there is also the question of starting quality. Someone like Minteh is yet to show that they can be a consistent attacking threat, but his defensive game would probably help us get more out of Wirtz.
We might be able to sign Minteh or someone else at that price and Barcola later, if we are open to moving Gakpo on and have definite interest in him. Otherwise going to 5 wide forwards/wingers seems a little excessive. Unless one of them is also the backup for Wirtz and Isak.
I think we need to strengthen at CB before we consider a fifth wide option.
Iraola tends to use four wide players in most games, subbing the starters after an hour or so. I really think only having four in the squad leaves us light. I also donāt really think Gakpo is a viable option under the new system.
