It’s true, even if Barcola comes in, we are dangerously understocked on LWs…

Given Chelsea need to offload players, and we need CBs, I’d be keen on Chalobah - right age profile, PL experienced, home grown, good cover option.
Chelsea news: Xabi Alonso says Blues will sell centre-backs - BBC Sport
That article states that Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi are available for sale having been valued at £35m, £30m and £25m respectively
Worth a look. Not sure how his injury is but he´s quick, direct and can score. He´s not a kid and you´d get good output right now from him I expect. He´s a bit like Diaz with a little Suarez in him maybe.
In fact, updated fun list:
In
Ez Abde 60 mil
Endrick 80 mil (:D)
Adam Wharton 80 mil
Guela Doue 40 mil
Jacabo Ramon 50 mil
Out
Mac 50 mil
Elliott 30 mil
Endo 10 mil??
Frimpong 25 mil
Gakpo 65 mil

Nice! This is a good fun list. I think Wharton would be 100m in a post Elliot Anderson to City world, maybe more.
Ramon, that’s a new one to me. But I see he’s Spanish, plays for Como and is very tall, so I’m in on that.
I read some comments from De Zerbi about Tottenham looking to buy forwards, I wonder if they could be in for Gakpo.
When you’ve been touched by Everton……..
Wharton might be but maybe not. I´m not too sure on the fee. Fernandes went to Spurs for like 60 was it? You never know.
Yeah the Spanish thing was a factor, I have to say with Ramon. He is very good from what I have seen but he´s also about 22 I think so maybe he´s a bit too close in age to Jacquet and Leoni.
If people want a Konate type at a more balanced age, then maybe Bissek at Inter as he´s mid 20s.
Yeah I thought of Spurs with Gakpo. Might be tough to ofload him unless he´s a makeweight in certain deals but I think see any there.
How’s a World Cup winner centre mid worth 50m when I’m seeing 100m for Adam Wharton who can’t get into the England team?!
I would be interested in Trevor Chalobah. Good age, Prem experience, home grown, can play cb and rb. If the price is £35M that’s not too bad.
We have a number of young defenders coming through, and I expect them to come to the fore and boss it for us for the next cycle.
In the meantime Van Dijk needs some help to bring them through, and Joe Gomez should be seen as a luxury option at this point, while he sees out his last season.
While we are also finding out about Bradley, and whether or not he will be able to take hold of the right back spot long term, Chalobah helps there too.
There’s a lot to like, and I think he is good enough to be part of the group in two spots.
Same reason Cafu doesn´t cost much nowadays
He´s not very good anymore.´
But sure, lets say 100 mil that nobody will ever pay for Mac. I was conservative with my sale fees on purpose.
Ezri Konsa is also very good, but with his profile (regular PL starter + WC starting semifinalist) he will be expected to start.

Fernandes was £85m according to Ornstein. And I’d expect Palace to point towards that as well as the fees for Tonali and Anderson, and be well within their rights to want 100m for Wharton.
Bisseck is an interesting player, great physicality and seemingly able to play a bit as well from what I’ve seen. Looking at what Liverpool have acquired in Jacquet and Leoni, it seems they’d like to have CBs who can cope in a 1v1 situation in big spaces - similar to Virgil and Konate.
I like the Chalobah suggestion as well, that would make sense. Liverpool have to think about the number of foreign players as well, they need more outs than ins to be able to register everyone for the CL.
I don´t rate him that high but surely he could start for us a lot?
Van dijk will be phased out this year and next, you´d expect, and the other CBs are two kids and a perma injured Gomez.
Fucking hell was it that much? Probably true then yeah. Buying in England is going to be expensive. I´d still pay it though I think.
Yeah he´s a good dominant player. I guess you could ask does he fit well with Jacquet and Leoni too when they are more developed? Maybe. He fits the age profile at least of not being so yoing.
Yeah good point on the foreign players thing. Chalobah at 27 too could expect to play a lot of games in the next few years for us with Van Dijk ageing and the two kids.
We can only buy one more foreign player, so we will have to buy 2-3 HG players to build up the required squad depth.
Konsa would cost circa £60m based on reports. He’d be a different signing to Chalobah in terms of expectations to be starting.
I think Chalobah was keen on staying at Palace last year, who have lost Guehi, so expect them to be sniffing around, who are also going to be able to offer him more starts i suspect, than us.
If we have problems with squad registration I’d be sending Macca on a season long loan to JK Marine Redsox in the Falkland Islands ![]()
I would prefer we don’t help Chelsea with their current way of cheating but Chalobah would make sense at the quoted price, Tomori at Milan was the other one I mentioned a while back as a similar cheap homegrown centre back option, think he has a year left on his contract.
Agree, and I’d like to buy either of them bolster our defense. Basically Klavan-like options.
As for better quality HG players, my choices are Wharton and Spence.

I wouldn’t have any problem with Liverpool spending 100m on Wharton. Spending other people’s money is great fun

But yes, the market is what it is, and English clubs in particular have loads of money. I think Joao Gomes looks like a potentially great value signing compared with others that’s been made. Bergvall is another I think will be that if he moves this window.
Instead of buying an overpriced Barcola for LW, lets buy Mudryk who has just been cleared to play. He would be cheap and would be coming on a high after clearing the drug charges.
