Who would you buy? (Part 2)

For the starting eleven, bare minimum, we need a right-back, defensive midfielder and wide forward. Ideally, we also need a starting-level left back, another midfielder, and wide forward.

Still time in the window, but leaving it late.

Next season, we could also need a starting-level goalkeeper and centre-back if Alisson and van Dijk leave.

Yeah both full backs were fine defensively. The Kerkez criticism on the first goal is unfair in my opinion. He’s a quick player himself but he’s in a footrace against a guy who runs a 10 second 100 metre.

They weren’t fine in possession though; Unless they considerably raise their level, we’ll need better FBs for both flanks.

Watched Robertson for a few minutes yesterday and even at 32 the difference between him and Kerkez offensively is night and day.

Throughout the match I was wishing we’d signed Hall instead of Kerkez, looked like a rolls-royce of a left-back.

Then he gave up a pen in the final minute to cost his team 2 points, so the fuck do I know.

I think he was a bit unlucky to be honest with the pen.

Agree with @RedArmada really that our full backs aren´t very good on the ball. They can´t pass and move at all.

Kerkez is fairly solid 1v1 but not a thinker.

Yeah they weren’t great today on the ball. I think are better than they showed today, although even when we signed him I did note Kerkez as a developing player in the final third. Unfortunately last season was a bit of a lost year for both players for multiple reasons and I expect they will get better.

I heard Iraola on the Men in Blazers podcast say he sees Bradley as the future at RB so Frimpong really just has to be good enough to be a 2nd choice, which I think he is.

Lamina Camara

Should have bought Sangare.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. If he plays for Liverpool and gives up that penalty, he’s getting slaughtered for it.

The moment we start watching a player in a Liverpool shirt, the scrutiny goes to eleven.

There is also a major difference in how the fullbacks play in regards to the team.

Hall is sat in position alongside a compact defence and midfield, far easier to defend that rather than how our fullbacks have to defend.

Especially a high line and Elangas pace.

Sangare is more of an 8.

Kamara played against us pre season and can’t recollect anything good or bad, so not sure whether that is a positive or not.

He’d be perfect for us but City have done the deal at 86m apparently. Very very clever midfield maestro for an 18 year old.

Sturridge was talking up Sangare after the match too but has him down as a No.6

He still looks a better one to one defender than Kerkez tbf

Sangare profiled more of an 8, which explains his 2 assists? it is Kamara than is more of 6, with Bouaddi being an out and out 6.

Robbo is one of the best attacking full backs in PL history so that’s hardly shocking that he still offers something. He got ruined defensively though - especially on the first goal where they just pass around him like he doesn’t exist.

even better when you consider they were on yellows from about the 30 minute mark onwards.

neither of them looked like yellow cards either BTW… probably take that to the ref thread though

Id have broken the bank for Caicedo instead of Isak and Wirtz. He is a unicorn midfielder

Well we tried to, but he wasn’t interested.

Big problem for a team reliant on passing, distribution, and creativity form FB positions.

Trent and Robbo have moved on so we need to figure out what to do next.
