Who would you buy? (Part 2)

I feel like Rodrygo would be City player already if the possibility of a move to Anfield didn’t exist. I think he is the backup plan. I would be 100% fine with that due to his versatility and quality. It may actually make more sense.

Salah isn’t really a central option.

He doesn’t like playing there and our central striker is (or should be) our first defender in the pressing phase.

He did a job there at times in 17/18 under Klopp when we flipped the structure mid-season, Bobby partnered him.

Its only Salah who’s fixed in his playing positions. Rest of the guys can do multiple roles. Gakpo can play off the left as well as center. Ekitike probably can too, As does Chiesa and Wirtz as well.

Yes, but you need to look at where a plyer is most effective. It’s clear Mo is wildly more effective on the right just as Gakpo is on the left. Neither are great through the middle.

If you are looking for a forward after Isak you’ll have to find someone happy to warm a bench. Evidently Chiesa now seems to be back in Slot’s plans and we do have Jayden Danns before we get to Rio.

We need a forward to allow us rotation and injury cover but we probably had one too many for the system we wanted to play anyhow so 2 in is fine, so that’s Hugo and….

There’s always Origi!

Looks like he may terminate his contract with Milan…

Looking at the state of our defence currently, I’d go after both Guehi and hijack a deal for Hincapie.

I wonder how closely we’re watching the Mainoo situation at Utd. They hype around him went silly last year, but he is still an excellent talent. It seems his best path back into the Utd side this year is Amorim leaving and so if he is still hanging on in January, with Utd needing to raise money to buy him one more players whose arrival is thought to finally unlock Amorimball, I wonder how receptive they’d be a cheeky bid from us.

I love a cheeky bid.

Only one player EVER has crossed that impossible divide. I doubt if this is even a notion worth entertaining.
For the record, I have had this same thought. He can be a very good 6.

I think he’s more of a 8. Too slow to be a effective 6.

Does he have the same problem as Jones? Holds on to the ball a bit too much and gets caught in possession?

Just saw this after replying to you in the Utd thread. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Mainoo isn’t fit to lace Nyoni’s boots.

Mainoo might be slightly better than Bajcetic though.

Still, as soon as Bajcetic gets over his injury, the gap will open up again. :joy:

On a related note, I saw the Paul Joyce tweet on the no comment thread. Good news about Bajcetic, that Slot wants him to stay and build on his good work out on loan. Home grown too.

I hope he can take his chance, and he may get some minutes in rotation with Grav if he hits top form.
