Yeah, that’s a realistic view of it. The romantic in me wants Konate to give his head a wobble, reject Real Madrid, stay here and play his best football, with Bajčetić getting over his injury issues and fulfilling his vast potential but… It usually doesn’t work like that, not with Liverpool.
He’d be a quality signing, though I’m unsure of his physical reliability and where he’d fit in with all the midfielders club have at this moment. Surely he wouldn’t want to be in rotation with Gravenberch and Mac Allister?
I genuinely don’t expect it unless his drop-off in form is as significant as his upturn last season. To play the devil’s advocate for a moment, imagine Hughes selling him for today’s equivalent of what club paid for him in the first place and reinvesting that into Olise or someone of his quality…
Definitely. If he continues his track record, he will overtake Kane as 2nd all time scorer and even a slim chance of overtaking Shearer in these 2 seasons.
Don’t think he can overtake shearer as can’t see him getting the kind of numbers he needs playing in support of Isak and Hugo. I expect this will be his last season with us and he may get 15 more PL goals.
Unfortunately, I’ve been of the same opinion for a while. Everything about him screams “prime Real Madrid or Barcelona” - he’s got that mix of intelligence, technical ability and snide behaviour that would make him attractive to them, either as a starter or rotation option. He also made comments about wanting to play in Spain eventually. I hope not, I like him so much.
Yeah I’d be very happy if he stayed another 2 years, we won a PL and CL and then got 50-75m for him which funded/mostly funded an early 20s replacement.
Been rumoured since our friend Bayern Space mentioned it not so long ago about a release clause in 2026, and once again a few days ago (backed by Lewis Steele), hence all the reports.
He’d be the dream target. I didn’t think it would’ve been possible due to the cost and status of Bayern, but their star is dwindling a bit, and we’re on the rise, and with a potential release clause, he’d just be perfect. He’d also be classed as homegrown.
Interested to see where Morgan Rogers fits into all of this, if we’re actually looking at him (although haven’t seen anything reliable recently).
If we are actually looking into Morgan Rodgers and the if is key there. It feels likely to because he is versatile and could be back up for Wirtz but also left and right forward, while also counting as homegrown. Considering we are having problems registering everyone we’d like for Europe, that homegrown feels important.
World Cup winning Argentinian, I always assumed that would happen. It’ll accelerate if we win the CL. Hopefully we have earmarked a suitable replacement. It’d be really hard but would like someone with a bit more athleticism as well as the football brain. I’m contradicting myself but yeah Wharton of Palace would be a good start. Hopefully Glasner will have fucked off by then….and Parrish finished his gym class
