Who would you buy? (Part 2)

I don’t think Mac goes somewhere like that to be a rotation player, I think he would rather stay here in that case. Of course, nobody can give such guarantees, but I don’t think he goes if he doesn’t have a pretty good idea that he’s being brought in to start. It could be tight in his case, because of his age (will soon be 27) and how his career went so far or until very recently. From next summer on, he will have 2 years left on his deal, so that could be one to watch and hopefully negotiate and agree a good deal for all parties. His form last spring was the best stuff he showed at Liverpool. More of that, please.

This looks like a soon-to-retire list euphemistically called “free agents list”. Surprised Ronaldinho, Nedved, Quaresma aren’t in there

Now that was below the belt!.

Do it again

I like Jeremy Jacquet.

Would be a great Konate replacement, if he goes.

I know this is recency bias since he’s just scored twice for Bournemouth, but this guy is exactly what we’re missing with Diaz gone. Real pace out wide, can hold it up, can finish and an ‘out ball’ on the left. Reminds me of Mane watching him tonight.

Presumably he will be at Afcon as well but he’s the real deal.

He’s going to be 26 before the end of the season and I think that would make him just too old for us to be interested. But he really is a cracking player.

Was really surprised no one went for him, he peaked my interest in our 1st game against Bournemouth last year when he ran rings around Robbo last year.

I know Kerkez is getting some grief from some fans but he did have a real battle against Semenyo and kept him relatively quiet and look what happened when Milo was replaced.

Would be a good Salah replacement and also an ds more height.

We bought Isak, who turned 26 last month, but Semenyo does look the business. I could only see us moving for him if Gakpo wanted to leave, but he only signed a new deal last month. Semenyo also signed a new deal in the summer, so it’d take a huge amount to get him out anyway.

I think the only attacking signing we’d make next summer is a replacement for Salah, which I hope is Olise.

I like Semenyo, but the last thing I see us going for next summer is another forward, who would cost quite a bit (he signed a new 5-year deal lately) and who doesn’t really have his best position. We have enough questions to answer with the players we have now, let alone think about adding more (and potentially replacing Salah when we want is easier to imagine/say than done). Iraola just spoke recently about the ability to shift him around. Height is also not such an important factor, since we have a number of tall players in offensive positions. Things can change until next summer, but I see the biggest focus being on defence. It could well be Guehi on a free + 1 (or 2). Possibly one of those CB/full back hybrids.

I agree. I think we’ll add a CM as well, alongside a couple of centre-backs (one hybrid option, like you said). I do think if the opportunity is there (if Olise does have a release clause), we’ll make our move to prepare for life without Salah. It’ll be an opportunistic move.

was Semenyo the lad that got abused by that LFC supporter, but took it really well and thanked the support he recieved?

he was a class act, on the park and off it.

plays through the middle though doesnt he? cant see it being a go-er, hope he doesnt end up at one the Manc clubs or the Arse…really easy footballer to like.

Mostly plays off the sides, but is fast, strong and two-footed enough to play anywhere across the front line. He’s probably best suited as a very offensive, inside type of wide forward in a 4-3-3.

He plays all across the front. I am really surprised no one came in for him this summer. I think he has played a lot through the middle the last season or so because of injuries to their other forwards
