Are we missing out on a potential conveyor belt of young talent here?
Looking at some transfers other PL teams are making in South America, I think we are. Weâve had some pretty good players from that region but I donât think we signed any of them directly from South American clubs.
this aged wellâŚ
The only one that we signed directly from South America that did well was Lucas Leiva.
From my understanding, we tend to identify talent there, but are happy to wait for them to make the move to Europe and see how they settle in Europe before making firm bids.
Is he gone or what?
I mean, things in football can change quickly, but how opinion changes among fansâŚ

With everything else going on, letâs have that argument again too ![]()

So you saying 10 years of service and playing just shy of 250 games for us was a bad move?
I was only joking! I had plenty of time for Lucas, but he split the forum in two. It seemed that half the forum hated him and half thought he was wonderful.
I remember the forum split. I just couldnât remember if you were on the right or wrong side
I was one of the few that thought he was alright. Not as bad as one lot thought. Not as good as the other thought.
Who was the guy that absolutely loved him?
Zaguero?
I think at the end of the day we all learned something about the value of a good decoy run.
wasnât GrkStav another?
Lol, yes he had an unhealthy fixation at least we can understand Mattyâs with Szob ![]()
I think weâre all a little dom-curious, right?
Would Guehi in January and Schlotterbeck on a free in the summer make sense?
Wow! Blast from the past!
We donât have to (or much less than before), people learned to recognize and appreciate players like Lucas since.
Weâve matured and realized that itâs not all about size, muscles, physicality, pace and playing in one tempo and one or two directions.

But no doubt youâll still get new generations who will think ex-players like Modric and Silva are too small for England, Carrick is slow, etc.
