Thereā€™s a starting 11, bench and a number of players who wouldnā€™t make the bench or were trying to break through.

If everyone is fit I think that starting 11 beats last seasonā€™s Liverpool. The bench is much of a muchness and we had a lot more young players trying to break into the squad.

All that said, that isnā€™t really my argument. My argument is the squad as of today given weā€™ve already lost Mo, Konate and Robbo.
We had experienced cover in every position back then. Now we have none in several positions.
We have 1 left back. We have 2 CBā€™s, one 35 years old, the other a perma-crock. We have 1 RB and Frimpong.
We have Chiesa as our only option on the right, Gakpo our best option on the left.
People like to compile our best ever 11ā€™s. None of our CMā€™s would get anywhere near most peopleā€™s squad, never mind as starters.

Itā€™s not though.

The Italian league is now appallingly bad, Germany has one team. Spain is pretty weak - gone are Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia, Malaga, Depor etc. Dutch league a non-entity.

Football in general has dipped and PL is the best of a bad bunch.
