If ever we were going to go big on a defender in January (cos we’ve never done that before, eh?) it’s got to be now.
Let’s say we’re prepared to spend £50m-60m on a CB this January. Who do you go for? I know the usual names will be mentioned of Koulibaly, Upamecano, Skriniar etc but I’d be seriously minded to offer that for Fofana. He looks quality.
I actually don’t see the point in going for someone makeshift, I’d rather go with Williams and Phillips in that scenario.

I’d be happy with Fofana or Upamecano. Unrealistic one would be De Ligt, whilst Ive said a few times, think Alaba would be a good one, probably more like £20m than £50m-60m

I was reading on twitter for my sins but apparantly this summer we asked Fofana to wait a year and he didn’t and signed for Leicester.
Depending on how serious Gomez injury is we may need two CB’s in January, Ajer and Upamecano.
The rate we go through them, we might have to by in bulk. Maybe a six pack of centre half’s!

If Jurgen was prepared to utilise Lucas Leiva at CB when he was here…
We shouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t already started to hone Robertson or Tmiskas for left CB against teams that don’t have a target man in their ranks that can win headers (Leicester)…

The position of centre half has become a poisoned chalice at Liverpool. Who is going to sign for us knowing that at some point, they are going to suffer a career threatening injury?
