Who would you buy?

Same here.

Setting a pile of £18m on fire would be a better use of the money. At least it would provide a source of heat.

Most overrated player in the league.

The only reason we should sign him is if Klopp was convinced he could make an actual footballer out of him instead of him of the phenomenal set of physical attributes he’s been used as up till now. Combine his physical traits with some footballing ability and BOOM you have yourself a hell of a player. But it’s probably highly unlikely for that to ever happen. So if we buy him it’s because Klopp knows there’s a football legend to be created there and I’m 100% on board and excited. If we don’t it’s because Klopp knows there isn’t or likely isn’t and it’s not worth attempting it and I’m 100% fine with us avoiding him like the plague. One were, for me, if it was worth the move, at that price, we’d definitely find a way to make the purchase.

No.

Looking forward to see what Spurs/Conte/whoever do with him.

:joy:

I’m repeating myself but I’d love it if Saka and Martinelli were Liverpool players. Ten to twenty years ago, Martinelli would have been a killer centre forward - his skill set looks more suitable to the role of a wide forward nowadays but still… Nevertheless, two immense talents, Arsenal are very lucky to have them.

Jürgen is clearly a fan

Can that be considered tapping up?

Or is it just a smoke screen - i.e. praise a player that is similar to push a behind the scenes negotiation over the line???

There seems to be a lot of talk about Chukwuemeka. Just realised there are two of them, brothers. Which one is ahead in the growth curve?

The taller one.

Paul Pogba No GIF by adidas

Paul has something to say about that.

Some suggestions in here gone;

Need to replace Origi in the summer.

Ismaila Sarr will have two years left on his contract in the summer. Watford might go down and AFCON is being moved to the summer.

Not sure he would be the one.

I think we will be definitely in for him, just depends when. The home grown element is a big factor as well.

19, understudy for Mane on the left… 2-3 years when Mane starts to wane he’s 22/23 etc. Sounds perfect on paper, £5mil mooted fee also… FSG dream…

Highly doubt he’d be a first team player for next season, barring any positive surprises.

Worth a go at that fee, especially considering he’s home grown.

We’ll see how those stats translate to the Premier League. Mitrovic and Wilson are tearing it up for Fulham as well and we know they’re not at our standard.

Maybe a player who could replace Minamino in the short term if we get a buyer and hopefully develop into something better.

I literally say understudy for Mane, so not expecting him to be a first team player next season but getting minutes similar to Gordon.

Yeah, I didn’t mean a first XI starter, but a first team player. Might be around for a season (or 6 months) like Elliott did, maybe he surprises us and proves he can be part of the squad straight away, maybe we send him out on loan (maybe if Fulham come up, who knows).

I’d say he’s on a level with where Minamino was when we signed him so not sure why Carvalho wouldn’t instantly get integrated into the team. Whether as a really offensive CM option for certain games/spells of games or a cover option at LW I’m not sure. Elliott came back from playing at that level, younger, doing great but not as well and seemed to earn a starting role till he got injured so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Carvalho played from the off. Besides I doubt he chooses us as his next club if there is no clear cut vision to integrate him. Be like Delle Ali all over again, only this time for a player with more playing evidence to point to as credentials.

Never saw him play + he’s a 19-year old coming from the Championship. Not every case will be a tiny bit special like Harvey Elliott. Until we see him in pre-season and more importantly, the first team staff see him in training, I think we can’t tell anything for sure. There is vision and then there are also levels which we need to maintain. We have showed that we do have meritocracy here and that if you’re (really) good enough, you will play. I don’t think someone like Fabio Carvalho needs any more “promises” going from 25 games at Fulham to one of Europe’s best sides.
