Who would you buy?

I don’t play this game.

The Club alwayss wins by keepng their cards close to their chest :sob:

Honestly believe that more than ever another signing depends on other players leaving.

Midfield is stacked. Whole squad is stacked.

And it’s very difficult to sell players like Ox and Keita. They surely prefer to be free agents in the summer.

Gvardiol, Bellingham plus another top midfielder.

Its not even January…

Two midfielders.

Ideally Bellingham is one of them, in summer.

In the meantime, some legs are needed in midfield. We were watching them tire out today against Villa.

Caicedo looked like a possibility, but his price has probably rocketed way ahead of his current worth. So maybe Amrabat? Or Kone? Or Musah?

Someone of that sort of profile for now, so we match anyone for energy in the engine room, and then the best midfielder we can buy in summer, hopefully Bellingham.

Bellingham. If all goes well that’s the next 10/15 years of a midfielder sorted and probably our next captain. Will most likely even make a profit if he is sold on down the line.

I haven’t watched Enzo much to compare but will be slightly disappointed to see Jude then go elsewhere

Sounds like Klopp wants a team of 6 footers! Sign all the giants. Now we know Bellingham is nailed on.

It’s the hairs

Midfield isn’t stacked. It becomes very weak if you look at injuries and form

We need three incoming guys to replace 3 outgoing guys in (Milly, AOC , Keita).

Fabinho is having a bad season, Thiago and Henderson have their injury woes too.

Elliot is having a decent season , Carvalho is not used in a 3 man midfield.

On paper. We do have numbers , but deep diving further down , considering the amount of games Liverpool are expected to play over a season , we need all the midfielders we can get… I’m looking at 3 frontline starting midfielders and 1 youth prospect plus 1 graduate from the academy at the very least

I don’t think you’ll find the squad space necessary for that.

Aye, the squad is too big. We wont have to replace 1-1 every player we move on this summer, and we really wont want to either. If the trio of Ox, Arthur, and Naby are barely available, then you can replace all 3 with 1 quality front line player like Jude and you’ve got the squad a lot closer to where it needs to be in terms of playing options and reductions in salaries of barely contributing players with only 1 addition.

The squad this season is set atleast… I’m more referring to the season after.

If we had a stacked midfield , we wouldn’t even have gotten Arthur

Henderson
Fabinho
Thiago

Bellingham

Elliott
Jones
Bajcetic
Carvalho (I understand he may/may not be viewed as a midfielder)
Morton

Bellingham is the ace that holds it together. Still young, but would quickly acquire more of a main man status in the midfield.

Then we get the remainder out of the legs of the three older players, while also giving plenty of minutes to the younger breed to make a case for themselves.

If that’s how it pans out, I’m ok with that.

Arguably if one of the older breed wanted to try pastures new - I could make a case for Thiago or Fabinho to want to spend their later years in an easier league, then another midfield addition makes sense - Caicedo, Kone, Musah, Amrabat, Joao Gomes.

If Hendo gets plagued with injuries again, then maybe it would be time to consider retiring from Southgate’s army and take the pressure of his aching joints…

If Gapko goes through now, then in the summer even if we move on Phillips, Naby, Ox, Milner, and Bobby and send back Artur, we’ll still have 23 first team players on the books (treating Bajcetic and Ramsay as first teamers). That large exodus can probably be made up for with just 1 proper addition in CM. Once we do that I think it’s difficult to see us do more without some sort of additional ruthless decision to move on one of those 23 (Gomez, Fab, Mo), and even this collection of moves includes losing Bobby which is far from certain.

We currently have 28 senior players.

Why we often have about 5 injuries or so is a different topic and a nice question for our staff, football and medical.

Nothing to moan about our squad on paper in last years, we’re far from a poor team that misses things and can’t attack competitions.

Next summer again, it will be about bringing that number down, getting players back fit and fit for longer periods, get a new player or two (fresh legs in midfield priority) and that’s it.

@Sithbare this is what I was referring to, we can barely register anyone.

Caicedo. Only seen a handful of games but does look promising. Caicedo next month perhaps then Bellingham at seasons end. Both would bring a lot more energy.

Right now we already have 17 foreign places taken in squad registration:
Alisson Becker
Adrian
Virgil van Dijk
Joel Matip
Ibrahima Konate
Andrew Robertson
Kostas Tsimikas
Fabinho
Thiago Alcantara
Naby Keïta
Arthur Melo
Mohamed Salah
Luis Diaz
Cody Gakpo
Roberto Firmino
Darwin Nunez
Diogo Jota

So any new midfielder can be possible only if he will be either homegrown or we will exclude someone from registration/sell.

I can see a few names there that’s we could probably exclude to zero effect.
