Lavia is the one for DM. No idea about Ugarte, never seen him play, but from the players I know Lavia would be excellent to phase in at DM (I’m under no illusions that Klopp will bin Fabinho off, he just won’t).

Palinha can’t pass the ball, not sure what test he passed tonight unless we want to sit on the edge of our box all game next season.

There have been some excellent midfield performances recently - Lavia vs Arsenal, Caicedo vs United, Rice vs us.

That’s the standard we should be measuring our future deep midfielders by, players who can put up performances like that. Put a technically gifted player next to Trent, not a carthorse, and it frees Trent up even more.

The Fulham left back, Robinson, looks a decent prospect.

There have been links in the press about him, but I agree that he looks tidy and eager everytime I see him. The main limitation is that he came up through the Everton academy :joy:

Aaah! I didn’t know that. Maybe not then.

Ugarte is the man to replace Fabinho.

As a replacement for what Fab offers as strictly a defensive player and what Fab offered, but I do agree we need a better passer of the ball and a player who is press resistant but can also dictate play

I watched the obligatory youtube vid of him and all it showed was tackles, what is he like in possession?

So not him then?

Why write off Fabinho after 1 and a half seasons where he’s been admitedly lacking.

A normal pre season and training might well see him bounce back. If United can stick to rashford during his gash moments , we can do the same with Fabinho.

Manage his games and he should be fine but he wouldn’t be that guy to rely on week in week out, just another well rested option.

Fabinho , Caicedo , McAllister with Trent doing his interchanging role.

Even if it’s a pipedream w.r.t Caicedo at the moment

That makes for quite a nice midfield.

TAA, McAllister, Bajcetic, Jones, Hendo, Fabinho, Thiago and bring in another top mid like Caicedo. That to me are fantastic options although we need them to stay injury free so may move on Thiago.

The great thing about Caicedo is that he can slot to RB and still perform at a good level.

Fabinho can slot in as a CB as well…And be a good option there as well.

I distinctly remember Fabinho / Matip doing a pretty decent job with Fabinho as a makeshift centerback so that might just prove to be the next step of his career.

Fabinho was not good at centre half. That’s why we needed Nat and Rhys to save the day that season.

Doesn’t matter. He can always come on and say he was a Liverpool fan out and out.

Not that season when both VVD / Matip were gone. But alongside a proven CB , he did do a fair job.

Who would I buy?
A right back/centre back depending on what the plans are with Ramsay, Bradley, Matip and Gomez
McAllister
A defensive midfielder

Move on Gomez. Keep the rest.

Gomez isn’t going to realise his potential. Too much water under the bridge.
