Who would you buy?

Where are our signings???
Klopp out, wait, he almost is… ok so
FSG out?
Slot out??

Are they going to sell another hotel?

And they got the first gen Willian too! Bastards…

Strangely when I have seen him he has that composure you see in VVD.

I don’t think he is as good but there is a certain calmness on the ball.

I don’t think there was a right to buy on him and it’s another one Slot needs to consider.

Personally I don’t expect many signings unless we start to sell. Maybe one

@Sweeting thoughts on Maatsen?

Chelsea seem ready to let him go this summer and he has seemed one of the bright sparks for Dortmund this year. I am not sure if long term he is really a LB, but could he be a decent target as a back up with potential to be the long term replacement for Robbo?

If that’s possible then he should be LB target #1. I’ve been extremely critical of Chelsea for not using Maatsen enough, he’s brilliant. Everything you could want in a modern wing back - fast, strong, great crosser, attacks the penalty area. Cliche “suspect” defensively but I see enough stubborness and dedication to winning the ball back not to care that much about perfect positioning etc.

Jarred Branthwaite.

He wouldn’t need to move, is left footed, has played well of late, not a local lad to the fact he’s currently blue hopefully wouldn’t matter.

Not sure where to place this because I don’t necessary want to buy him but what do you all think have happened to Ansu Fati? Once the darling of Barcelona and looks pretty solid for a good career ahead of him. But the loan to Brighton had not spark much in him through injuries and maybe mentality issues? Maybe he was affected by the turbulence in Barcelona.

My question is, would Ansu Fati at 21 and once looking really good, have gone too far down the drain to ever pick up to a great level again or can he be that kind of punt where it just takes a great coaching team to get the best out of him again?

Injuries have finished him, sadly.

When he was still only 18, Barca were backed into locking him down into an expensive and long term contract. With their financial situation and the number of other options they had to that role, it was a salary they needed to get off their books last year. I dont know why it didnt work out at Brighton, but I’d have to see him be disappointing for someone other than De Zerbi before I wrote him off as done.

This. The kid unfortunately has been ruined by injuries, a selfish club repeatedly rushing him back and enough damage to his body (as a result) that it will be difficult for him to reach the same heights again.

He might still have a decent career but sadly I think his days as an elite player have probably passed him by (despite his young age).

Arthur Theate is someone we’ve previously been linked with. 24 year old CB at Rennes. Left footed and can also play left back.

Apparently looking to leave Rennes this summer and whilst he’s been linked before, not heard his name mentioned with ours for a while. No idea of his quality or potential but checks a few of the boxes we’re supposedly looking for.

Starts for Belgium tonight so one to keep an eye on if you’re watching.

*Didn’t realise he’s starting at LB not CB in this game.

Now you’ve given me a reason to.

You will be blamed if he’s kack!

It might just be the hair but he gives me David Luiz vibes.

Least the game has started with a bang. You’re welcome.

He just did something good.

Buy!

Oh no. Gave away a corner.

Swerve!

  • 2nd + 3rd goalkeeper situation

And we should be good to go.

Will be interesting to see if we will actually add a midfielder too.

We have to get Nico Williams especially when we don’t have RM as competition as they already signed Mbappé

Have to break your heart on this one:

Nico is a LF/LW. We have plenty players who can play there but we need a RF/RW.

Bilbao are a strange Club to deal with. Even with his release clause they will find a way to make him stay.

Don’t believe me? See how difficult it was for Bayern to sign Javi Martinez for example.

Or - ever wondered why very good players like Inigo Martinez, Iker Muniain or Nicos brother Inaki never left Bilbao?

They try to have only basque players in the squad. Once in it’s very difficult to get out. Bit like a sect / mafia. Difficult to explain.

I think in the last 5 years they only sold one player.
