We seem to be producing more RB’s. I suppose that’s probably across all clubs. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to have a inverted wingback playing at LB if push comes to shove.
Left back prospects we have are Luke Chambers and Calum Scanlon but I don’t think either one are ready for any regular action. They’ll likely both go out on loan.
I’m still rather convinced that was more to do with Jürgen wanting to retain the inverted full-back rather than any individual flaw of Tsimikas. Although I do suppose that still means he’s rated below Bradley.
Silly season or not, that’s an elite level, homegrown player who is approaching his prime that now has less than a year left on his contract.
Reality is we’ve had a couple years to sort him a new one and it hasn’t happened. He either signs a new deal in the next four weeks or we’ve got to see what we could get for him because losing him for nothing would be a monumental fuck up.
You are being unfair to LFC. Trent signed an extension in 2023. As in case of Salah (and possibly other players as well), we are ready to be generous for a player who is worth it.
Anyone else feeling a little nervous that we’re a month into the window and not a single signing yet? I can understand why City don’t feel a pressing need to improve, they won the League yet again thanks to Liverpool and Arsenal collapsing. But it feels like we could definitely use some help!
I would have been really nervous had we done a lot of business early in the window as it could have been an indication that we might be in breach of PSR. Doing nothing suggests our books are clean and we have ample time and money for the new management to take educated judgement on transfers, if and when needed.
Doesn’t matter when he signed a new deal, it matters when it expires, which is next summer.
A new deal for him determines the success or failure of this summer over and above any new transfers. The fact it’s gone this far is cause for concern.
