Who would you buy?

My guess at our transfers.

GK: Kelleher sold. Mamardashvili in.

RB: No transfers. Trent most likely gone and we will risk Bradley and Gomez with Quansah as our glass break alongside Curtis or Endo.

CB: No signings. VVD to sign a new deal.

LB: New leftback to be signed and Tsimikas sold. Robbo to rotate.

CM: No transfers. Endo to stay. Morton to be sold, potentially Bajectic too.

RW: Salah to sign a new deal. No transfers. Chiesa to get more minutes and Doak sold.

AM: No transfers, Elliott to see an increase in minutes.

LW: Diaz to stay. No transfers.

ST: New striker signed. Darwin to go. Jotas fitness to be tested again next season.

I don’t see us going crazy transfer wise. I’d personally like to see a centre back and midfielder added alonside the positions mentioned but doubt it!

GK: Alisson, Mamardashvili, Jaros

RB: Bradley, Gomez

CB: Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah, Gomez

LB: Kerkez, Robertson

CM: Mac Allister, Endo, Gravenberch, Jones, Bajectic.

RW: Salah, Chiesa

AM: Szoboszlai, Elliott.

LW: Gakpo, Diaz

ST: Alvarez, Jota

Outs: Doak, Tsimikas, Nunez, Kelleher, Trent, Morton.

Ins: New left back and striker.

So fatigue to kick in in January already and not in March. Hope we have a 12 point lead again by then.

If we only sign 1 defender this summer, something is seriously rotten.

The last CB we signed was Konate in 2021. What then, delay everything else until 2026?

Let’s not put even more pressure on our defence.

Yes, that wouldn’t be pleasant. Virgil another year older, with Robbo and Konate’s contract due to expire then and us facing questions already about Gomez and Bradley’s ability to stay fit throughout a season, questions we are likely to still face next year.

This summer’s window can’t be one that we allow ourselves to stumble through doing ’ just enough’ and i dont think we will.

That’s really disingenuous. There has been no need to sign any new centreback since then. We had Quansah coming through who could replace Matip. The next obvious replacement would be Virgil, and there’s still time yet for Quansah to grow into that role and for Nallo (or someone else) to grow into his.

I read that Salah gets about £500k a week (including bonuses). Havent a clue how accurate that is or whether it is close to what he is asking for, but at around £26m a year that is a lot of money for a club in our situation to agree to, particularly for 2-3 more years if it is facing having to cut corners elsewhere in the squad to help make it happen.

We had transfer windows when we had other priorities. That’s alright. But this summer it’s obvious that something else other than a LB will likely be needed. Can’t ignore it for too long and let a “midfield 22/23” situation happen to our defence. Virgil will be 34 (if he’s even staying), Konate has his issues of missing games, etc. More quality/competition is needed.

Another one is Mo Amoura from union St Gilloise who is on loan with a German Team I think it was Wolfsburg, I watched on a French tv where they were showing 4 African WC qualification matches and I saw him play for Algeria against Mozambique and he was great he scored a hat trick and made an assist for the 4th goal. I cannot remember if he scored when we played against Union St Gilloise in the CL.

Yep we need to go big. I be happy with significant renewal* as I think we underdid it the last 2-3 years (apart from our hurried/unexpected midfield refresh).

*Ie. 6+ signings: LB, CB, RB, Def Mid, 2 FWD

So in other words, the bare minimum yet again? Yeah…that aint going to cut it this time I’m afraid. Not signing another RB now Trent’s decided he’s fucking off would be a travesty…you only have to look to who we’re having to play there now to work that 1 out.

We do have a number of requirements, but I would caution against wholesale replacement of the squad.

We had to replace our entire midfield last season. It’s worked out in the end, but Szoboszlai faded somewhat after a strong start before finding his form this season, and Gravenberch has really only come into his own this year.

That was largely forced on us as players left unexpectedly and others were massively injury prone.

If we do sign players, we have to make sure that they are a perfect fit for the squad and are an upgrade on whoever they are replacing. There’s no use signing journeymen for the sake of it.

The replacement players also have to be available and want to sign. Both potential signings and their clubs have their own agency.

I would say that a central defender of sufficient quality is a must, and depending on who is leaving, a right back or utility defender may be needed.

The midfield isn’t desperately short, but a squad signing could be useful. We are fine for keepers.

Up front, a centre forward would be advisable. A right winger would also be needed if Salah leaves or the right player becomes available.

Also add to the equation FFP limitations as well as the home grown contingent. Does it get this complicated with EA Sports?

I agree that this so adds to the headache of working out all the permutations.

For what it is worth, Athletic loosely estimates we could have afforded to lose about £75m n the 2023/24 season and still have met the league’s PSR threshold. We lost about £54m. We’re likely to be making a profit for the following season (before transfer spending). Athletic are reluctant to make an estimate here because of all the unknown factors involved but think that even with a wage bill of around £400m we should see a post-tax profit of at least £30m.

Uefa’s Squad Cost Ratio is expected to a little over 50% this season, down from 61% last season so we have a lot of space within that too (I think the limit is 80 or 90%?).

We are the last club that needs to worry about FFP.

Except for Manchester City, apparently.

Etikite scored also 3 gols for France in a 5-3 win.
I think Etikite is more comfortable with the ball and has more speed.
As my nickname says I have a. soft-spot for Eintracht Frankfurt, I would be glad if a deal would come true.
Reportedly 80m onwards and he is ours.

He may have been conned - I think that’s got the 100m excess at home while he’s shopping for £100 forwards from the 1890s.
