I think our wage bill is higher than normal against income, as high wages and bonuses converged with a bad season and no CL earnings.
I think we will see a correction this summer, and things will get in a much better range.
On a related note it’s also why I think Salah will be allowed to leave - we will offer a good amount, but not a ruinous amount for us; and VVD is touch and go.

I think i read that the figure also includes the paying off in full of Jurgen and his backroom staff, so will be temporarily raised due to that.

The season that reported poorly was also the season where we spent a bit (though most of it was recouped) and we came off a very poor season without CL.
This season we’ve done very well in the CL group stage which should give us decent funds and potentially could win the title which again would be a massive boost.
It seemed from those figures that without buying Grav we would have made no loss.
Trent will be a large wage to be fair not to mention probably Salah too. I still expect one will stay if not two.

We’ve done well enough in the last 6 years and basically a whole first team squad on high wages left in the last 3 years.
Money shouldn’t be a problem to rebuild this squad.

Are not incoming transfer fees depreciated over the length of the contract (and sales realized right away)?
I thought that was how Chelsea were initially trying to get around restrictions with their long contracts.
If so, that is not a reason for reporting poorly.
Depends if they are front loaded or not. Dom was a release clause so I assume that might be a bit more pricey than it would be.
Fact remains we missed out on CL and that is a massive hit. However I will say if we are struggling then some other clubs have to be hiding debt.
