Who would you buy?

Doubt Endo will leave. At least not before the squad returns from Japan.

This is the reason you are so upset at the success this season. You have have always seemed so desperate for it too go wrong and now its crystal clear why. You wanted to be trotting out the I told you so.

Or if this is true, Konate might be the one sacrificed if he genuinely expects that much of a pay hike, so Huijsen might be brought to start alongside Virgil

Yeah fully agree with this, it just gives us room now to potentially do some things we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

I think those three possibilities it opens up are doing something at CB with the potential of Gomez or Konate moving on. Then something in midfield to upgrade on Endo. And possibly asking ourselves if the Chiesa move has really added anything to the squad or being receptive should a huge offer come in for Diaz.

Not saying we can now do all of those things but our summer now becomes RB, LB, MF and CF plus maybe a couple of those other optional moves depending on what interest and opportunities come in the summer. Crucially LB, CF and then any of those optional moves would be part funded by sales as opposed to looking at replacing Trent, Virg and Mo all at once whilst getting nothing for them.

Next summer then becomes mainly about succession planning for Mo.

I’m still holding out hope, even expectation, that Chiesa is going to do big things here. I know the common sense expectation is he’s a bust for how little he’s played, but I do think there are ways to explain that away without it having to mean he isnt fancied. I think he was brought in for the long term with Slot prepared to be patient this year and then there were just a confluence of factors that meant it was difficult to justify using him. But now we’re down to just 1 game a week, the better training that allows, and the likely lower stakes of the games, I’d imagine we’ll see him more down the stretch. And then by next season he’ll be competing for appearances in the big games.

But I also swore that Shelvey would be a star here.

Shelvey should have been and would have if not for the terrible attitude and work ethics.

The alien DNA maybe counted against him as well

Shelvey was a star simply for telling Ol’ Whisky Nose to fuck off.

or was it the constant looking over his sholder checking for Harry Potter?

I hate myself for understanding that joke :joy:

Would be pleased enough if this transpires to be the case.

Equally happy if we flip him back to somewhere in Italy and bring in someone Slot feels more comfortable using. Less than 45 PL minutes in the season suggests to me it’s more than just unfortunate circumstances.

I’m really, really not convinced on Frimpong, though he might count as homegrown and that might play a role in Liverpool actually attempting to bring him in, especially if Trent, Gomez and Elliott leave this summer.

Huijsen and Kerkez really impressed, though I might be worried for Liverpool’s prospect under Hughes if the two biggest transfers he makes this season are those he made for his previous club.

Ekitike looks great on YouTube, I really have no idea if he’d be that good. That said, stats that are available on Internet compare him favourably to Isak, which is the type of striker that I feel Liverpool need.

Newcastle were supposedly big fans of his already before he signed for PSG and it would not surprise me at all if in facing reality of having to accept an offer for Isak they went back in for him as the replacement.

Part of me is concerned about us going after him as I dont think I could handle the chaos of people just refusing to learn what order to put the Ts and Ks in his name. Match threads would be mayhem

I don’t understand how people can’t spell Gakpo. It’s literally just 5 letters, it’s not that hard.

Yeah, I wrote the other day that I remembered Newcastle’s interest, it was genuine and the deal was reported to be almost as good as done by one of those Newcastle-related journos that I used to follow on Twitter until they started being apologists of their new ownership.

That said, I understand the second part - imagine Gakpo and Ekitike combining down the left channel…

I actually meant to position it as good fortune - someone we brought in with an expectation of a bedding in and rebuilding period we’d benefit from being patient with, and then had the circumstances to not be forced into rushing him into action.

If we see nothing of him over the next 7 weeks then I might change tune.

There is apparently interest in Quansah from Newcastle at about £35m.

I’m not going to pretend to be a transfer guru, but if the brains at Liverpool don’t think Quansah is going to be elite, then you take that cash and reinvest in someone who will be.

You mean you’ve given up on that one?

Doesn’t make much sense to me. I think Quansah is easily worth his place in our squad.
