Women's Football: General Discussions

Germany and Brazil have impressed. That Brazilian goal was fabulous.

The Irish impressed for hard ass stuff and effort. Don’t mess with Katie McCabe!

I’m really enjoying it (except the Aussies have been disappointing so far) and the solid crowds will attest.

The downside is the Media angling for anything sexual as usual from the Zambian coach allegedly being a pervert to the homosexual questions.

England 1:0 up against Denmark at half time. The goal was early on - bit of a scorcher. England have had most of the possession but have been rather sloppy at times.

Walsh strechered off with a possible knee injury. Could be tough for England later in the tournament with Williamson and Mead already missing if they lose Walsh for an extended period.

Italy being smashed by Sweden

One of the local channels is broadcasting the World Cup live. Why the hell they didn’t promote it. I just found out now.

Credit where it’s due: both of Colombia’s goals today were excellent.

That Japan v. Spain match is of interest. I don’t know much about this Japan team, but they were so much fun a few years ago. Another ride like that would be cool. Go Japan!

Japan doing a number on Spain 4-0. Looking like a team to want to avoid in the knock out rounds

Chances of the Ozzies getting knocked out their own tournament here?

They are cruising at the moment.

Yea, I expected that to be a bit tighter!

Wow the USWNT have seriously regressed and the rest of the world have caught up big time. The Portuguese girls are all so comfortable auth the ball at their feet. Regularly made the US girls look clueless

Didn’t watch it, but it seems kind of inevitable in the long run, maybe not yet now.
But in 10 years the US team will be average at best in the world. Imho. Now that the big European clubs are getting more involved and more money keeps coming in, that US system will find it hard to compete with the infrastructure in other football nations.

Maybe also some of the historic top women’s club teams like Lyon and Wolfsburg will get overrun by the same clubs that dominate the men’s.

On another matter go China….I want Aussies v Poms in the knock out. If you thought the bantz was great on the cricket thread….

So apparently I don’t know the offside rule.

Lucy Bronze was not offside when she became involved in the play, so I don’t understand why she would he ruled offside for being there before becoming active.
