She’s great, but you also set a really low bar…
Well played England
Congratulations Spain
As much as I wanted England to win I didn’t see how we would hurt this Spain team. Best chance was to keep it 0-0 for as long as possible and hit them either on a breakaway or a set piece. Conceding midway through the first half killed that. Fact that it stayed at 1-0 is down to Earps. I know we did it at the Euros but that Spanish team was more depleted and we have three of our best players from them missing
Spain’s midfield just controlled the match. Hermoso had a blinder, apart from her shocking penalty miss. Teresa and Bonmati also had excellent games.
Also I noticed we stood off their players while they actively engaged the ball carrier.
At least I saw England in a World Cup final.
Twice near the 90th minute, England break, both times a Fernandinho special, but the yellow stays in the pocket.
Best (?) ref moment of the match - Again, as injury time approaching, England have a throw. The Spanish player holds on to the ball, then when “trying to give it back” she throws it over the advertising board. The ref actually puts her left hand in her pocket and starts to take out a yellow, but then realises the Spanish player is already on a yellow, so puts the card back in her pocket.
The usual “can’t ruin the spectacle” bullshit…
Gutted for England, but really proud of the girls getting to a World Cup final.
Spain overall were better and congratulations to them.
So glad to see Women’s Football getting alot of support from many people and organisations around the world.
Yeah, good tournament, good football, good hosts
The highest accolade I can pay to this World Cup is that it has converted me- yes, me of all people- to women’s football.
Well done to everyone who took part, all 736 players and the officials. The men’s game could learn a lot from you.
Fantastic tournament, some brilliant football played,a number of very tense exciting games and some really really good footballers.
Hadn’t watched much of Spain before today but I think they are reall representative of how much the game has advanced. I’d imagine if you watched a women’s World Cup even as recently as 2015 most of the football would be unrecognizable from what we’ve seen here and in the euros last year
That’s what the US will struggle to keep up with.
I’m convinced in 20/30 years we will look at US dominance of the women’s game as a curious relic of an archaic version of the sport.
You can see the national football identities being reflected more and more in the women’s’ game. Coaching and financial investment is making a huge difference and will continue to do so. Generation upon generation, the deep knowledge in the original football countries will have this impact.
Can’t even do the basics right…

It was so good to see the lack of shithousery, play-acting, spitting, fan toxicity, sportswashing, dreadful officiating and FIFA self-aggrandization! I’ve been ‘over’ the men’s national team for years and have just about had enough of how thoroughly revolting the Premiership has become too. Plus, there are some stunning women to appreciate!! I think I might have found what I’ve been looking for in football for the last 25 years! Don’t even really care about the result either - just enjoyed the sport The women’s game is a credit to all involved. Eventually the money and cunts will take over and that will be that, but for now I’m going to enjoy it for what it is!!
What’s the issue with Sunak’s xeeeeet?
It’s meant to be “You left absolutely everything out there”.
Fuck sake
