Women's Football: General Discussions

Yeah someone mentioned the various issues that were taking place in the Spanish FA over the years.

Laughable how the Spanish FA stated they were defending Rubiales “honor.” Please.

I missed this, but apparently at some point in the celebrations after the final, he essentially did an Emi Martinez
while standing next to the queen of Spain :joy:

Is it very surprising? If the national FA weren’t headed by scumbags, UEFA or FIFA wouldn’t have scumbags at the helm either.

And that’s with before the WC, 15 Spanish players quitting the selection because of abuses from their manager Jorge Vilda.

It’s clearly rotten to the core.

Quite the opposite, now they are threatening to sue Hermoso and the 79 players having signed the letter.

They clearly haven’t read the room. It’s like they really want to create the biggest backlash possible and put themselves in the worst possible light.

As you say it’s rotten

Hermoso said it, she did not give her consent. How clear can it be to that perverse idiot and whole of the Spanish FA?

It has created such a bad atmosphere after such a great tournament. England team have come out in support of Hermoso.

Edit: why can’t he apologise to Hermoso and the whole team and say he misjudged the whole situation, then quit?

Spain has had a racism problem for years. The Spanish FA throws around token fines (usually only after it makes headlines). This is unfortunately just another case of the rotten Spanish football federation.

The Spanish FA have assembled a expert team to guide them through the crisis.

Apparently also Sevilla showed support for the player as was mentioned on La Liga Tv

This is turning into one of those bizarre stories where the behavior afterwards is much worse than the alleged offense. If he had simply apologized and say he was caught up in the joy of winning the world cup and meant no offense, I am not sure this would have blown up like it did.

That said, it’s ridiculous that the women still have to fend off men pawing at them after the game, the guy made the Spanish player hold him up then planted a kiss firmly on her lips, it’s just unnecessary and crass. Exuberant hugs are fine, but doing one followed by the other
followed by your mom locking herself in a church and going on a hunger strike! :joy:

While watching the ceremony i commented on his behaviour, although i didn’t know who he was at that time. While everyone has seen the kiss he gave Hermoso,i felt at the time he was going overboard with all the girls,at times it looked like he kissed some of them on the neck which some may deem even more inappropriate.

If the La Liga players have balls, they should take a stand. They can start with something symbolic like taking the knee, but they should be prepared to take more drastic/sincere measures like boycotting the games.

What is he, 5?

Yup an apology and some training and so on may have nipped this in the bud.

The way they went after the player has basically escalated this. It’s never ok without consent and a man in his position should know that.
