18 months jail time seems a bit OTT in the scheme of things, unless its one of those spanish jail terms where you dont go to jail or whatever…

but…

what a shit show, very messy stuff.

imagine how much of this shit goes on in the mens game, still to this day, but imagine how much went on in the early nineties etc…

Absolutely shameless.

I also forgot about the crotch grab while next to the Queen. That’s a sackable offence on its own!!

What disappointed me further was how he effectively doubled down and took ages to fall on his sword. I’ve no doubt they also tried forms of coercion. And that public speech embarrassment where he was applauded. The dickhead should have owned it straight away apologised and resigned.

Having said all that I don’t think it’s jailable (everyone feel free to come off the long run) and the loss of job and reputation will hopefully finish him. Although these senior guys do have a habit of re appearing a year later after calling mental health challenges and get the PR machine active.

I coach a women’s team - it’s fist bumps and high fives from me after a win.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard in shock exit ‘for football reasons’

Liverpool have parted company with women’s team manager Matt Beard after a disappointing season so far.

Beard led Liverpool to fourth place in the 2023/24 campaign but the club currently sit seventh in the Women’s Super League table.

While Liverpool hold Beard in high regard for his success throughout his two spells there, it was thought that a change was needed to help them reach the next level.

Amber Whiteley has been placed in interim charge of the team until further notice. Whiteley previously acted as caretaker manager in 2021 after Vicky Jepson was sacked.

As with a lot of things, the cover up was worse than what he did.

It was not appropriate what he did, but I get it can be a grey area where mistakes can be made. The only appropriate ever to making a mistake in this area is “Im very sorry. It wont happen again.” Here there was a concerted effort by the organization he ran to pit them against the person who raised the complaint. People who do that should be run out of polite society.

Give it to Jürgen till the end of the season!

It is all happening down in Australia with our darling Matilda’s.

Firstly the captain Sam Kerr was involved in a court case for which she was not guilty of racial harassment. Fair enough it was a bit of a clutch. However the court of public opinion has not been kind given the drunken antics - spew, smash taxi, abuse everyone etc. Normally if that was a male National captain, a politician or CEO, they would stand down or be stood down. But not Sam and the silence from the FFA is deafening.

Now we have a “shock Jock Comedian” Marty Sheargold absolutely unload on the Matildas. The banter/joke missed the mark, he was sacked and the pile on resulted. The comments do not read well describing them as year 10 girls bitching, rubbish, where’s the men blah blah…

Enter the pile all the way from the Prime Minister (election coming), FFA (funny that Sam’s behavior is a bit inconvenient and we will ignore…), well known females on about the usual misogyny, sexism etc. The other side then go on about wokism, learn to take the piss, free speech, he’s a comedian he can go there etc. They did lose 3 games this week so many agree with him…anyway a huge debate and much hypocrisy.

So once again it has divided opinion. To be fair to Marty, he does sledge everyone including mens football and anything else for a laugh. But don’t touch the Matilda’s mate.

Isn’t it funny that they manage to run an entire story about who can and can’t play women’s football without actually speaking to a single women’s player?

My concern over this is not the ban as such, I can see perfectly valid reasons why you may want to restrict transgender players, but how they are proposing to enforce it.

Presumably, all women footballers will now have to offer a copy of their birth certificate. Given how easily these can forged, are they expecting some sort of medical examination before they can play? Then, we will get the usual abuse of cis women who are not quite pretty enough for the anti-trans gang.

I just see this being a nightmare, and setting back women’s sports just at a time that they are getting a big boost in popularity. As ever, those in authority fail to consult those that will be affected.

What’s the other option then ?

Fwiw , I’m not in favour of trans-women playing in women’s sport.

I do believe that transpersons deserve to lead a life of dignity though (but that need not involve playing in competitive sports meant for women).

To be fair, for the majority, a passport wouldn’t be needed to determine their birth gender

I’m not even sure what you mean by that? Thumbs up for the pretty ones? Do you see how this can all get deeply misogynistic very quickly?

The vast majority of the cases where the biological sex of women athletes have been called into question has been with those born and assigned female at birth. Quite what those women have had to put up with in terms of deeply unpleasant harassment is beyond imagination.

As I said above. No one appears to have actually consulted women athletes on this. If the proposed regime proves to be degrading to women, then they have every right to complain about it.
