Women's Football: General Discussions

Not remotely interested whether they’re pretty or not.
Merely pointing out that their birth gender is usually easlily identifiable.

And you’re probably making an assumption that female athletes haven’t been consulted for feedback.

Well, given some of the comments I’ve seen, they weren’t.

Yep. And it’s those cases that reveal a real incoherence of what is probably the median “trans people shouldnt be in sports” attitude.

This is a difficult topic with a range of reasonable positions that can be arrived at after careful consideration. But there are really difficult to questions for a person to answer for themselves in coming to that sort of position and the median position of “base it on biological sex” and ending there, as the SC judgement did, just doesn’t do that. And the sorts of athletes most people around this median position want to see ruled out of competing arent in fact ruled out by this judgement.

That’s a really astonishing thing for someone to claim. It takes only about 5 minutes of engagement with the topic to show just how not true that is.

Jesus, the MAGA movement has some its most high profile “thinkers” spending hours a week talking about how Brigette Macron is a man…because she walks funny or some brain dead shit.

I’m surprised they weren’t talking about Michelle Obama…

They were doing that one before trans hunting was cool and virtuous. Presumably she’s just a tired target now so need to concentrate on fresher meat.

I’m yet to see any mention of trans men.

Assume they take certain medication though I’ve not looked into it. You can fall back on the testerone thing but then you are going beyond science and biological sex.

Which makes the whole fall back on science a rather ropey argument especially with Semenya. If these bodies took the full judgement to heart then they would have to rid themselves completely of these testerone controlling drugs to compete.

Which when you consider drug taking is a no no in sports, that rule often seems crazy.

I saw someone referring to the french player, Wendie Renard, as “trans” on social media last night. I picked them up on it, and they did, in fairness, remove the post.

But this is how this debate seems to go. I’m just worried that this will now be dragged into the stadiums. It’s not as if there isn’t already inappropriate behaviour towards women players.

It’s deeply misogynistic at heart and they have now introduced a regulation which will inconvenience a million women players because of an estimated 30 trans women that were seemingly not causing any bother to anyone.

Bit of a trend going on here.
The latest one citing “burnout” after 36 games

All the players that have pulled out are around the 32 year mark. Maybe they are moving them on after a certain point?

I don’t know why from this angle she looks like Pennywise

Just been on the news about this.
Strange that the ones retiring had either…
A. Lost their standing as number 1 for their position - Earps
B. Been told they weren’t being selected - Kirby

TBH there’s a lot of men’s players who could do with doing this. With some of them, it’s chasing some goal record by shooting fish in a barrel, and a few are basically just bed blocking.

I’ve often thought if I’d been a professional footballer I’d have been like, fuck playing internationals, I want the summer/international break off.
Especially being Scottish where it’s all a fucking waste of time anyway
