I’ve seen Chiesa play for Juve plenty of times. He’s not a top-tier player, but he’s certainly good enough to serve as a backup. It all comes down to where our priorities lie; Iraola wants to strengthen the midfield and defense, so I don’t think there’s enough money left to sign someone like Diomande.
We’ve been burned for two years by the ‘Chiesa is a good back up’ thinking. He is not the player that terrorised England all those years ago. He seems to have bags of enthusiasm, but that’s it really.

Everything I’ve been reading suggests the opposite, that strengthening the attack is where we are focusing on.

He really isnt.
Chiesa is only ever a low risk , high reward gamble.
His time is done
I like Chiesa’s attitude but he is too limited to take up a valuable squad place.

Chiesa probably would have been used better had Klopp been there or even Iraola for that matter.
But he lost a fair bit of pace and wasn’t the Chiesa of 2012.

I’ve seen him play for Liverpool and he’s not even close to good enough, never mind the obvious unprofessionalism on display with his ever expanding waistline.

Chiesa never got the propper chance to prove himself under Slot.
I’d keep him for the first 2-3 weeks of pre-season to allow Iraola the opportunity to assess him before judging if he is good enough or not to be a back up option

There are so many different opinions, and I am very glad that Iraola will form his own impression of everything and then decide accordingly who fits his system—or who doesn’t. In my opinion, it is pointless to speculate; we should simply wait and see how things develop.
