Yankuba Minteh (RW) Brighton

At the beginning of the window if someone had said we’d be signing Barcola and Minteh I would have been fine with that. I’d rather we kept Gakpo but that doesnt appear likely.

Us not trying to sign him until now is dumb though. Other signings dictating the price and his injury is our own doing.

To be fair, I agree.

Would have taken that deal and perhaps not signed Muñoz. Considerably better than what we had.

Have the Brighton lot not ever heard of Zoom? Or a telephone?

Hopefully Minteh is ready to take another step up in his level and output but to be fair, it’s not always about having the best player in every position. If he will suit the system that we want and do the right job in that, he will be good enough.

We usually do pretty good business with Brighton, so I’m confident this will get wrapped up soon.

I know Bloom was very complimentary in how we conducted ourselves in the Caideo affair, but have we done any other business with them? I am racking my brain and cannot think of anything since Jimmy Case

Coach seaside trip in 2020, but we had to scrap that.

So left footed winger on the left wing up against a centre back and your issue is he dribbles past him. Pretty sure that’s exactly what you want your winger to do in those situations. And if it isn’t people should stop moaning about Gakpo not doing it often enough.

But because he beats a man round the outside so easily someone like Szoboslai stands off for fear of getting torn past and then he makes the right decision to play the cross in despite having plenty of room to do some kicking and rushing.

If that’s the floor of what we can expect from him then sign me up because clearly the lad knows his strengths and when to use them.

I think you have a very warped interpretation of the phrase so I’ll leave you to definition but there’s not one instance in those Liverpool clips that makes me think he’s as limited as that term means to most.

Makes you think doesn’t it. I’m riddled with guilt when I mistakenly put a plastic container in the bin for non-recycled trash and these fuckers are taking private jets as if they were Ubers.

No. As I said, that´s not dribbling. That is knock and run. Speed race essentially. it´s fine, but dribbling, nah.

Not that he beat the man most of the time as he lost the ball or his cross got blocked. That was kinda my point. He´s basically going for a race and to hit the ball in as fast as he can, rather than getting round them and having the ball to dribble into the box and then pick out a pass.

Szoboslai didn´t do anything. Was just lazily standing there. If Minteh had knocked it and ran he would have easily gotten round Szobo. Minteh could do whatever he liked in that situation.

Fair enough. In none of the clips of him dribbling you mentioned did anything come of them, but if that´s what you like, fair enough.

We’re overpaying for both that’s one thing.

What’s even worse is the fact that they’re coming in so late.

Calling it now. One might need 6 weeks to settle and one will get injured before the international break.

Minteh will need longer than 6 weeks. He’s injured right now and might miss the first couple of months of the season. I still would like us to sign him, but he’s not helping for a while.

How desperate are we? Sounds like a really stupid move.

He’ll likely be put on a 5 or 6 year contract if he signs, and his injury history has been fine in his career. If you like the player and the price is doable you do it even if he’ll need time to get up to fitness.

Shit Move. If we like him we should wait until January. Maybe he’ll be able to pass a full medical until then.

Yankuba Minteh isn’t worth 60m never mind 70m. The world’s gone mad.
