Yankuba Minteh (RW) Brighton

But then why were we wanting to get rid of Gakpo just to bring in Minteh, if we can just wait for Rayan? Or other players we want more.

Unless the whole story is not as we are told by these ITKs of course.

I suspect its more financial. Having two top earners on the left side. Not that I necessarily agree…

I suspect because we thought Minteh was an attractive market opportunity that would cost significantly less than Rayan or others we may pursue in a year, especially if we’re competing with other clubs for their signature.

But then Brighton started demanding 80M for him, which was 25% more than we were willing to spend for him.

So, at that point, we might as well hold off until the next window(s) and see who comes available.

Remember, a year ago at this time, no one was paying attention to Yan Diomande. Who knows what will happen in a year from now.

Yeah you could be right.

Hmm Maybe.

Just seems like he´s not necessarily one we we really want. I think it´s not worth taking an opportunistic one if it means blocking who we really want in jan or next summer

Chema Andres is set to join Brighton from Stuttgart for €25m.

He’s a CM so probably not Minteh related. Or maybe Brighton are already spending that Minteh money

Another one we were linked to earlier in the summer going elsewhere…

He looks a decent player.

Not flashy but a solid holding player who could have done a job for us. Good fee.

I know he is but he won’t be really properly back until next year IMO. It will take him time to be primed physically plus trust his ankle mentally before he’s properly back from such a potentially career defining injury. Best wishes for him.
