Minteh is only 22 years old, still raw talent, extremely fast, direct and unpredictable on the pitch. Something we lost with the departure of Diaz. The perfect profile for Iraola with his work ethic and pressing, he is also not afraid of defensive assignments.
Unlike Sarr who is already a formed player with limited range, Minteh has yet to reach his peak. He would not come with an inflated ego becaue of the price tag like Sarr, but with the desire to die on the field for a chance at a big club.

Millwall should get with the program, and tell Brighton that the price is now 80 million. It’s about time for the Brightons and Crystal Palaces of the world to start getting screwed on transfer prices.

Well this is part of the problem in football at the moment. The financial might of the PL means teams like Brighton can play hardball with teams in the Championship when it comes to buying but then are in just as strong a bargaining position when it comes to selling players to other Premier League teams.
You go look at the Deloitte Football Rich List and the 20-30 range is basically the PL mid table teams like Brighton, Brentford, West Ham, Palace, Bournemouth and plucky old Everton. Richer than all but the top three in Italy, Germany and Spain and all but one in Portugal and France.
This is largely what is driving the ridiculous market inflation. Mid table teams can now demand top whack for almost anyone a bigger clubs wants. The “big club bullying” has weakened because they need the player more than mid table clubs need the money from sealing their second or third big money deal of the window.

If we can make this happen I will end a really weird window feeling pretty content about the whole thing.
CB and the big impact winger were the two glaring holes for me and both have been nicely addressed. I know there is a lot of teeth gnashing about the mid, especially after Jones left, but I feel even with BB in and Cody staying we’re still more likely to be left short in the front line than in midfield, either through injury or lack and form and inability to use other options. So if we can add this I think we’re sitting ok.

Transfermarkt has two other right wingers listed on Brighton’s squad page, one of whom was also signed this summer…
Would really like to see this happen as well, but I’m not sure if we even have the room for a non-homegrown signing.

The other complication is that we were already over the limit for the CL and Chiesa’s presence created an obvious solution for him being the player not registered. Filling his spot with a legit option complications that somewhat.

You could probably leave Ekitike unregistered for the first half of the season if needs be as he is unlikely to feature then sort things out in January with a departure

Nothing is going to happen.
I would think that if Brighton were to pick up the phone and say a deal can be done, then we might see them sort it out by today’s deadline.
Given the injury, I don’t know how much game time he would be available for before the next window opens, so perhaps there isnt the need to get it done by tonight’s deadline anyway?

From what I can see online the expected return would be late October - November so could be available for a while before the January window, Ekitike is aiming for a Boxing Day return.

A consideration may be that prices are typically inflated in January. If the club feels there is better value now, perhaps it’s better to get it over the line before January.

I don’t think we’re getting Minteh today as I think that was dependent on selling Cody.
Rayan’s release clause activates in January and drops considerably in the summer.

How can you get an injured player without getting a proper physical? Would he be able to pass the physical?

Physicals aren’t really pass/fail based on a player’s current health. They’re more about looking for underlying issues that could affect the player’s value or potentially make the club reconsider the agreed fee.
If something concerning shows up during the medical, the club can still go ahead with the signing if they believe the player is worth it. It’s essentially a final due diligence check before the transfer is completed, giving the club one last chance to decide whether to proceed or walk away.
It’s a bit like a home inspection before buying a house. If you discover mold, you can either pull out because of the newly uncovered issue, or decide the price still represents good value, fix the problem yourself, and continue with the purchase. Minteh’s injury is already known, so a hypothetical medical is more about making sure there aren’t any additional surprises.
