Have had all summer to sign Minteh. Suggests that it’s not happening with PSG
My take is we prefer Barcola and Mbaye, but if the latter’s fee is creeping up, we are happy to pay just a bit more for a Prem proven option in Minteh.
Maybe if Gakpo, Chiesa and Elliot all go we might sign three players? Barcola, Mbaye and Minteh?
Spurs might not be the only ones with a late window attacking trio!
No, really???
That’s the spirit! Positive thinking everyone, we can do this!
Since it’s the Minteh thread, let me ask about Nwaneri ![]()
Would anybody take him for the right, assuming the price is reasonable? I would.
I think a few permutations are bubbling up as we speak. There may be four wingers we are interested in, in the hope of signing two, maybe three depending on outgoing.
Barcola is the one we want the most, and we will pay a pretty penny for it. But he’s the best one, and in a crazy market it is what it is.
Then I see 1-2 from Mbaye, Minteh and Nwaneri.
Scenes.
Minteh is a £30-35m player tops, even in this inflated market. The lad works hard and likes to dribble about like most wingers do,…that’s about it.
If the PE teacher we have for a sporting director is thinking about going to £70m for him, then he needs putting down. Why is he even still here? Didn’t he have 1 foot on a flight to Jeddah in May? Send him on gardening leave and bring Jorg back for the final 10 days.
Legitimately made me burst out laughing in the middle of this conference I’m attending. Luckily we’re in the middle of a break, otherwise it would have been very awkward. ![]()
Say what you want about Indy, but his tweets can be hilarious.
With him officially leaving on September 1st, would it not be julian ward acting as SD more so?
Why would they be connected in any way.
Brighton spent 30m when they signed him, and he’s under contract there for 3 more years. No way we get him for that price range. I think Brighton would look at the deal West Ham got for Kudus (55m) as a starting point.
Ward, like Edwards, came back into a new role created within FSG (not the club) to manage elements of the multi-club model. Im sure he has some input into first team personnel decisions, but we have an actual dedicated number two at the club behind Hughes who has long been touted as the ready made replacement.
Ben Jacobs has suggesting we are looking at multiple options.
I suppose if you were thinking of 3 then it’s not a major issue if one is currently out injured.
Especially if one is ear marked as a replacement for Chiesa ![]()
Can’t see the Arse letting him come here.
Well quite…
One of the likely outcomes of the americanization of the league is the reduced number of fucks about that sort of stuff. Players are assetts to sell or depreciate, or liabilities to get off the books. If they have put him in the liability category they are not going to give any fuck about who is paying them the money
He could easily kick on and be a special player. He looked a world beater breaking through, then he paused on loan, various factors, and now he is sort of waiting for the next thing.
It could bite them on the Arsenal, so you are probably right and they won’t deal with us for Nwaneri.
Edit
Then again, I like Limie’s take ![]()
Is he a Brighton Journalist?
yes… brighton will pivot and buy mbaye for 50 million euros and sell him next season or the next for 100 million
