Such a lovely guy and obviously a loving father and husband. Jurgen’s post said it best for me.
That was very nice I am not much of a social media person but that will give his wife and children something to remember him by.
I cannot imagine that preseason training on Monday will go ahead until after the funeral in Porto?
I can’t imagine that much training gets done, but the players might want to come together, share time and reflect on what Diogo meant to them all.
I expect the they’ll take a steer through the leadership group and go from there.
Just hearing this news, and I am absolutely shocked. Just yesterday I was scrolling through IG and saw photos from Diogo’s wedding.
My heart goes out to Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, and loved ones. My thoughts are with Diogo’s wife as she grieves the tragic loss of her husband, and with their three children as they process and grieve the horrifying loss of their father. I cannot imagine the pain and heartbreak. May the memories of Diogo and Andre be a blessing to those who knew and loved them.
YNWA, Diogo and Andre.
That would suggest his brother was driving him there. Not that it matters.
His song should be belted out at every game next season, it was probably the best player song we had anyway. Going to take some time to sink in this one.
Yeah probably meet up perhaps away from cameras anyhow.
I think the start of the preseason training will be delayed…Possibly the preston game will be cancelled.
The first 2-3 days of the pre-season might be grief counselling for the entire squad and the trainers who work with Jota… After that, i think it will be full on pre-season training…
I think because of the pedestal we often put footballers on it almost makes us think of them as being invincible, and as such news like this becomes even more shocking and hard to comprehend. Just feel really gutted for his family and friends and everybody at the club.
RIP Diogo and Andre.
I got into the office early doors today and cracked on with work. A colleague (fellow red) came to my desk at 945ish and told me this news and i’ve spend the rest of the day deflated, distracted and really upset.
He’s probably just had the best 4-6 weeks of his life, and just like that it’s all gone. His poor wife, kids, and wider family - it really is as shit as it gets.
RIP Diogo and Andre.
News coming out of Portugal. He wouldn’t normally have even been in a car for the journey he was making
Indescribably devastating for his family.
Also thinking of our players and staff. We as fans are devastated but they seem to have such a brilliant team spirit. Will be so tough for them to deal with the loss of their friend
Felt numb the entire day to be honest, don’t really know what to say… Rest in peace.
Heartbreaking.. Hope both their loved ones get the support they need.
I’ve made a thread just for memories and tributes to Diogo Jota, combining the previous two.
