Same here, Jordan, ashen-faced was in bits. I burst into tears when i saw that video.
Everyone processes grief a bit differently. But I imagine that there’s going to be a moment weeks or months from now when Arne thinks of subbing in Jota, or a teammate thinks of sending him a text about a shared interest, or his wife wakes up in the morning and rolls over in bed expecting to see her soulmate…only to be reminded of his passing, and having to contend with that grief all over again.
As much as the shock and horror and sadness hits you like a freight train when you first hear the news, it’s the weeks, months, years later when you’re reminded that the wounds never truly heal. They become easier to manage, but there’s always something missing.
That’s why it’s so important for the community to come together to grieve and memorialize and support one another. Liverpudlians obviously know this well with the tragedy which has struck this club in the past. But I also appreciate the support shown from the broader footballing world as well.
