Its a training match and the funeral is over. I don’t understand the possible reasoning behind not playing it irrespective of how people feel. Its usually better for most people to get back into a work routine fast so healing can start. I would sugggest this is good use of training matches and that they are perhaps particularly needed.
Small world!
I worked with Nuno in New York in the early 2000s.
Great guy and a kinder soul it seems.
Given they were driving a Lamborghini, and that it was in the middle of the night, I’m not too surprised to be honest.
Can remember ye olde ticket office…aahh the memories.

I understand that there’s been an informal decision to keep posts about the accident itself in a separate thread, so I’ve edited this post out of respect to the board. YNWA, Diogo and Andre.
Might be worth setting up a news section for this stuff to keep it separate.
I think we’re all better than speculating on the details of an accident that resulted in the death of two people.
If anyone wants to discuss the cause of the accident, I did set up a “cars and stuff” thread ages ago. It’s probably better suited to this kind of discussion:
I asked this yesterday.
I’m not a Moderator and have no such ambitions. But I echo the sentiment expressed by @rab just above.
I am requesting that all such posts speculating on the cause should be moved to the @RedWhippet thread.
Discussing this in here is at the very least disrespectful. I understand the need for analysis and explanation, but surely not here? And to be honest, I’m not being judgemental. I’m genuinely upset reading about potential cause.
Just leave the two boys alone…everything is still raw…it’s just the shit stirrers wanting headlines…as previously said…keep the reports to yourselves…geez have u not been awake for the past week…people are still in shock..
Fifa regulation states that when a player passes away with an active contract, that contract immediately expires, leaving the club no longer liable or allowed to make any further payments apart from those owed which would then be paid to the passed players rightful heir.
In Diogo Jota’s case, Liverpool FC have claimed that they are the ones who terminated the contract before it naturally expired, leaving them liable and able to pay the remainder of his salary to his heirs. They have also committed to paying for the education of Jota’s children for life.
An extremely classy move from the club
still hurting
not only a wonderful footballer, but more a very special human being who has touched so many hearts all over the world A humble lad who respected his parents, family and people he met
R.I.P Diogo and Andre
YNWA
It’s like they’ve lost one of their own children
That’s a really crap rule by FIFA I feel.
Suppose it might protect the smaller clubs but I do feel it should be up to the club and in this situation the club is doing the right thing.
