Pretty close (with him). It’s like when you have teammates and that team spirit and the amount of time you spend together, he was one of us straight away. He sat on our table, we had little tables at dinner and the night before games, Robbo, myself, Jots and Hendo and the boys.
He was such a great guy. Bought into English football and culture and can have a joke. Boy could we argue and joke and have a mess around - having arguments at dinner tables! We were both so stubborn so we had so many fun times winding each other up and I used to work with him in training when we’re in 2s and stuff.
You can’t put into words, his family… and as a player, as a guy, so loved - he’s one of them guys who can sit with anyone and get on and have a laugh with him. It’s a skill that is. You’re gonna be more compatible with some people more than others but for him (it was easy).
