My gutted feeling was at Senna’s death. I was young enough then that I didn’t see the news of the Ratzenberger’s death previously. But I saw that happen in live TV. Was much later that I got to know someone else died too.
Just got into F1 in the 93 season. Never a Schumacher fan. Always gravitated to McLaren and Williams.
Bianchi’s death was even more painful I’m sure. Considering how much he suffered in the hospital. But I divested myself from f1 quite a while before that.
For the Aussies in here, for me this draws parallels to Ben Alexander of Penrith Panthers fame back in the 90’s, though tbf Ben was well over the blood alcohol limit so maybe not that similar.
I think we just need to reflect a bit more on here in the tone we use and that is all of us me included.
We often see players as commodities to fund other talent and players.
My feelings was to keep him for what he brought to the team. Yes you may want some players gone for whatever reason but perhaps more respect in how we speak about them.
I think we will certainly miss him just on a playing perspective alone.
