2026 FIFA World Cup qualification

Oh I thought it was pretty much all of them. 8 from 12 actually yeah anyone in that group is going be hit unless they award 3-0 wins to all three.

The problem with that is that 3 points may be enough to qualify, so a team could progress whilst losing their other two matches.

Irans spot should be handed to Israel :see_no_evil_monkey:

Israel is not a member of the Asian Football Confederation.

I’m sure FIFA can find a way to make it happen :joy:

Denmark got a very late inclusion to Euro 92 after Yugoslavia were banned due to their civil war.

With the US being the aggressors here, and in Venezuala, and Cuba, and Greenland, and every other shitshow currently going on in the world, it really should be them that get banned.

I seem to recall that went quite well for them.

It’s still early days. I’m sure there must be a few other qualified countries the US could bomb the shit out of before then.

US president Donald Trump has said Iran’s men’s football team is “welcome” at the 2026 World Cup but that it is not “appropriate” for them to be there “for their own life and safety”.

Um, I think you’ll find that the safety of players is your responsibility as the host country you fucking moron

You can probably include the UK

Ban em both

I was listing possible winners.

This World Cup shouldn’t be held in the USA. FIFA, if they have the guts should ban USA. They should move all the matches to either Canada and Mexico.

Or just postpone the whole tournament until that noncey, big, fat, orange, tena pants wearing blob is out of office

I will go one step further Maria. Just hold every match in Canada.

FIFA do not have the guts, or the moral compass, to do the right thing.

Participating nations need to take a stand, but even then it is probably too much to hope for. All European nations should withdraw, for example, due to all the wars Trump is starting and dragging them into, plus the threats to NATO and Greenland. All South American nations should withdraw due to Venezuela, and other moves being made in South America, and Cuba too. The list could keep growing, but there are legitimate reasons to have a World Cup with no European or South American nations.

Again, sadly it won’t happen. And in some ways I can understand it, as the players just want to go and play football, not be pawns in a wider geopolitical malaise.

I fully expect the World Cup to have issues. Many fans who might have traveled will stay home. They will consider the financial cost and they will also think about what America is becoming, and they will swerve it. I expect to see a ramping up of joyous fans zones as people enjoy the World Cup in community in their own countries.

In America, with the eyes of the World on the games, they will try to avoid the embarrassment of empty seats and will pack the stadiums out with last minute deals for locals.

The sales model is already more or less set up like this, with the dynamic pricing for demand. It was built to maximize revenue, but it will start aggressively discounting seats too
